I recieived a lottery letter. Said I won 200,000.00 Sent me a check for 2987. said call number and cash check so I did. Took check to bank gave to teller she called numbers and found out company did exsist but check was a fraud. Teller said when checks come in they are uploaded to system and they say post paid mines said negitive pay meaning check was no good. Cashier kept calling different numbers and found out check was no good. She explained the problem and let me speak to this man on the phone he said check was no good. Bank kept check and shredded it and the man on the phone from loss prevention told me to not talk to people if they wrote me again. Hopefully this case is over. evidently there were to checks with the same number one was good and one was fake I recieved the fake one but I am just glad I did not get into trouble also one week before this I recieved five money orders for 950 a piece and I threw them. Never thought this would happen to me but I guess it could happen to anyone

Stupid,

The question as to whether or not the scammers will use your information is difficult to answer. It's doubtful that they'll visit you.

Now, depending on what information you've given, you can be hit up with ID Theft. Keep an eye on your credit report and make sure you don't own any houses in another state or a few credit cards being mailed somewhere else.

Just be sure that you don't give out any other information to anyone calling or contacting you.
