Hi, good day to all of you. I think I almost got scammed. Can you guys help me confirm?

I have been negotiating a certain transaction from a person in U.K.
She wants to buy an equipment from me that is somewhat expensive.
After several replies and negotiations...

I finally received an email from:
westernunionmoneytransferpayment@ financesource.com
with a subject:
***PAYMENT COMFIRMATION TRACKING NEEDED TO SEND PAYMENT***

I began to suspect that this is not a real message from western union, since the pictures along with their email are just jpegs and gifs.. no link or whatsoever to direct me to WU's website.

Luckily, I came across in this website, and realized that the descriptions that most of you have stated are similar to mine. Can you help me confirm if this message is aunthentic or b*llsh*t?

This was the email that was sent to me. I was pretty excited that a collector in Africa would be interested in my work, since I just recently launched my website at http://www.kevingrass.com Thank goodness for your forum, before I was ready to go to much trouble to pull a painting out of a show to send to this scam artist. I appreciate the heads up & hope that this will keep others from falling for the same bs.

This is the email I got:

Hi
i was looking at a sample of your work and i was impressed at the
creativity of your work and i will like to see all your works so let me know
where i can view all your works and i was thinking of ordering but i will
like to know whether you can sell to me and ship it to West Africa for me,so
please i will need to hear from you in regards to this and to know your mode
of payment cause i was thinking i send you my credit card number # and the
expire date to charge for my order to make our business faster but not
throught paypal, but i will awaite to hear from you with your opinion.
Sincerly
Elijah Moore

Thanks to your forum, I was able to identify this scam. I am a photographer and this guy wanted to buy several of my artworks. My web site: http://www.photoartmill.com
I was corresponding with him for a while, but got suspicious. Why he doesn't use PayPal, which is secure and wants to send me his credit card number via email? It looked like scam. So I decided to check his name in search engines and I came across your forum. I wrote to him that the only way of payment will be Western Union and once I have cash in my hands I can ship him whatever he wants. Of course he didn't respond to that. Beware of the scam of Elijah Moore.

I have someone who wants to buy something from me and provides shipping for the product. He wants to pay me with bidpay. Is there a way to insure that the transaction is authentic (that it exsits?) like is there some sort of reference number that I can track a transaction with? And see the details of the transaction? Can the transaction bounce?

There are also other people who wants to pay through international money order cheque or cashier cheque, after doing a little research, it seems to me that this isn't as secure and there is no way to track or to see if the cheques are authentic.

I know I ask a lot of questions, but I am a newbie in online selling. Thanks to all replys in advance.

Sounds like a scam - more than likely you will receive a bogus email from Bidpay stating that you have been paid by this guy, and that the money will be released to you when you have supplied a valid tracking number for the shipment. Whatever you do, dont ship the product until you have money in your hand - and tell him you will use a shipper of your choice, not his. Suggest payment by Western Union money transfer - you'll probably never hear from him again.

My suggestion with bidpay is to call their customer service to verify the transaction.

International Money orders are risky so be careful to have the post office check them over if they are USPS money orders.
