Yahoo Messenger ID=Pennsylvania, he claims to be in NIGERIA

Please help come up with scenarios on how could this possibly true. If NOT true, why? Thank you much.

He's supposed to be in Abuja, Nigeria when he created his yahoo messenger ID.

When I looked up his Messenger ID via the View Profile feature, it shows he's a male from Pennsylvania. That's the only info shown.

How did you come in contact with him? Is he asking for money or for you to cash checks for him? If the answer to the second question is yes, then it is a scam, and you should end all contact with him.
