Duncan Art Gallery aims to provide an innovative forum for contemporary art, presenting work by largely unseen young artists or by international artists whose work has been rarely or never exhibited in the Philippines.

When Duncan Art Gallery first opened over Ten years ago it was only those who had a dedicated interest in contemporary art who sought out the gallery to see work by new artists. The audience, however, built steadily over the years and by the time the gallery left its second home at County Hall, visitor numbers reached 300,000 per annum, with over 700 schools organizing student visits.

Duncan Art Gallery has worked with media sponsors on a number of shows including The Observer, The Sunday Times, Evening Standard, The Independent on Sunday and Time Out.

Many artists showing at Duncan Art Gallery are unknown when first exhibited, not only to the general public but also to the commercial art world. Many of these artists are subsequently offered shows by galleries and museums internationally. In this effect, the gallery also operates as a springboard for young artists to launch their careers.

This came in my email so I don't know where to find the specific ad... you have to hit the report this post button from the ad itself but they are nationwide and I haven't a clue where it is originating from... if I can find the time this weekend I'll see if I can find it... Backpage doesn't make this part easy as they don't have a search option.

I believe I have been scammed by this same person, I responded to an advertisement from Backpage.com for a Nanny position to a man name Patrick Rino. Mr. Rino sent me his phone number which I called when he did not show up for the assignment I was hired for. At this current time I am still in contact by email with Mr. Rino who keeps insisting that he is relocating to the US.
I notified Backpage.com but feel that nothing will come out of the advertisement. My concern is that he has my name, phone number and address. I feel very exposed and vulnerable and am not sure what I need to do next. If you have any advise for me I would be more then happy to hear it.
Thank you for your help.

The scammers love free classified ad sites, like Craigslist, since they can post for free and they know they can find a LOT of people all in one spot.

Here is the email address to report these scams

abuse@backpage.com

If more people report them maybe they will put up a warning about these scams . . . Craigslist finally did after we contacted them several times.

OMG!! I almost got scammed, but thanks to this bulletin I didn't. I had a weird feeling about this e-mail I got.
So I decided to do some research on this " Duncan Art Gallery" company.
Turns out that bad feeling lead me to this site.
Here's the e-mail I got.
BTW it was from a ad I replied to on Backpage.com.

Dear Nanny,

Hope you are doing great am very sorry for my later reply ! It's good to know that you are interested in the job and I'm happy to have found a Nanny for John and i hope we will all get along just fine. All i want is an efficient and a friendly Nanny and i hope we will get along just fine.We will be arriving in United States on the 28th of October 2010 after i have cleared my files and hand over to a good hand. All i want is a good nanny.I am a very likable, easy going and down to earth. My Dad is from South Africa and my Mom is from the Philippines but i was born in South Africa.

I have been working with DK Art Gallery here in the Philippines for about 7 Years now. More so, i love Arts because it gives me a special perspective of Nature.I'm also a friendly person who likes making good friends. I like to go see the movies with my boy and is favorite Cartoon characters Tom and Jerry.

John is 7 years old and very likable, very friendly and he loves ice-cream a lot, some time he will come sit on my leg while we watch a Movie. John is quite sensitive he knows when am down and he will smile and say dad are u alright? just the look in his eyes will do the trick. After the lose of John's parent in the typhoon, i decided to always make John very happy and safe.He will be enrolled into a good school over there and i would appreciate it if you can help in getting a good school for John when we arrive.I can go on and on just to give you as much information as i can.

You will be working Monday Through Fridays and the Weekend will be your days off.You are to resume in the morning by 08:00am take John to school when am busy cos i always take my boy to school myself. You are also to keep John's room clean and can you cook?....your Launch break will be by 1:00pm to 2:00pm and then you can go pick John up from school, help him with his studies and your closing time will be by 5.30pm and i would prefer to pay your wages weekly which will be $800 every week as long as you will be good.I would also ask you send over to me a copy of your picture so I'll know who am working with.We would be staying in an Hotel when we arrive for some couple of days before we get a house that will be close to you if you wanna live out, but a room will be reserved for you if you choose to live in and also i will like to know were you are located ...

Nevertheless, Attached is a picture of John and I.More so,i will be going to Japan for a research on Asian Arts and Craft, and also to purchase raw materials needed before coming over to States. So without much waste of time i would like to pay you upfront to secure your services as John's Nanny as that is one of the company's policy. The Art Gallery i work with will be in charge of your weekly payment of $800 but will be paid directly by me at the end of every week and i believe you will discharge your duties effectively as required.Kindly have the Nanny Application below filled out and have it sent to me by email so i can forward that to the company for approval and i hope we will get along just fine. You can contact me on my cell.....+639994289373 dial as typed...i have been trying to call your number as it was provided by you but unable to connect.

Thanks for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you soon.
