Hi, I work in the Consumer Response department at Quaker Oats, and we've been getting reports from consumers about a scam in which they receive checks that are supposedly from Quaker, encouraging them to participate in a secret shopper program. Quaker Oats did not initiate or endorse this activity. If you want more information, you can go to our web site:

http://www.quakeroatmeal.com/qo_contactUs/index.cfm

Please give us a call or send an e-mail if you have additional questions. And please spread the word so that others are not victimized by this scam. Thanks!

Beth at Quaker Oats

Nice to see Quaker Oats is a responsible citizen trying to prevent fraud.

I may have to buy an extra product or two from them.

As a mysteryshopper let me chant our mantra:
If you are not familar with the company and YOU did not contact THEM avoid any type of mysteryshop. It is probably not on the level.

I have been receiving all kinds of 'job' offers regarding secret shopper stuff that is all BOGUS and I also get checks in the mail saying my email address won or sweepstakes winner from another country...and a lot of these people actually go through the expense of having stuff sent by FedEX!!! Blows my mind!!!. The other 'scam' that has been happening is they want you to pose as the beneficiary of monies they can't locate any relatives for because they've all died in crashes and they want YOU to pose as the benefactor!!! So absolutely insane what these people go through to try and 'trap' unsuspecting people. Unfortunately some of us have been victimized and have paid some very heavy consequences...

About Us .

We are a company that conducts surveys and evaluate other companies. We get hired to go to other people's companies and act like customers in order to know how the staffs are handling their services in relation to their customers.

Once we have a contract to do so, you would be directed to the company or outlet and you would be given the funds you need to do the job (either purchase products or required services), after which you would write a comment on the staffs activities and give a detailed record of your experience

Examples of details you would forward to us are:
1. How long it took you to get the services requested.
2. Smartness of the attendant
3. Customer service professionalism
4. Sometimes you might be required to upset the attendant, to see how they
react to clients why they get tensed .

We turn these information over to the company executives and they would carry out their own duties in improving their services.
Most companies employ our assistance when people give complains about their services or when they feel there are needs for them to improve their customer service. your Identity would be kept confidential as the job states (secret/mystery shopper) you would be paid $200 for every duty you carry out, and bonus on your transportation allowance, and funds would be given to you if you have to dine as part of the duty, Your job will be to evaluate and comment on customer service in a wide variety of shops, stores, restaurant and services in your area.

No commitment is made on this job, and you would have flexible hours as it
suits you.

If think you have what it takes to join a fast-pace, professional environment, then please apply immediately as soon as possible via e-mail as this position will be filled quickly but before you fill the list below make sure you read the INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGREEMENT attached to this mail.

A total Scam Scam Scam Scam

Just the other day, even a rep from AFLAC calling me and the rep saying it's a job, call me about the "JOB" ....it's not a job. I asked if I get paid like an employee they said no. So I said It's a business you work from commission only, thus making you a business owner...not a job. They said yes, so when I asked why would you advertise it as a job and questioning them they hung up!!!!

Don't be a victim, ask questions. Don't give personal information to anyone...good luck.

Hi,

I'm glad I found this site to confirm my suspicions.

I recently responded to a post on Craigslist about a mystery shopper job--I was only half serious but I thought you never know; it might be interesting. I received an email from them today but when I got to the section asking for all my information, I just shook my head. No way would I send my cell phone number much less my HOME address to a total stranger!

Here it is below, pretty much the same as the one in the post I'm responding to but a different name. Maybe by posting this it will help other people to find this name on a search (maybe the more the merrier).

Thanks again. By the way, in this email and a few others I saw on this site, the English is just slightly off. Maybe someone mentioned this (I didn't read everything), but it's clearly not a native English speaker writing it. Don't know if that makes a difference to anyone but thought I'd mention it (I used to teach English and I'm a writer so I pick up on that stuff quickly).

Below are several emails I began receiving after requesting more information from a craigslist ad. Thankfully, I did some research before making any decisions and I am so glad I did! I searched some of the info on the emails and mail I received and found this site. They even sent me a counterfeit United States Postal Service Money Order...which I did absolutely nothing with...thank God! Hope this information helps all who read it and hopefully before they fall victim to the scam. :x

Email #4:

Hi once again,
How are you today? Hope everything is fine with you . This is to update you and to inform you that our shopping assignment starts today, a money order package has been sent out to your given information with us and it should deliver to your address today via a UPS courier service(http://www.ups.com). We are very busy company and you will enjoy working with us as we create impact in training the public.
HERE IS THE UPS TRACKING NUMBER: 1Z3066TY0190881279

Once you have recieved the fund, below is your First Assignment Instructions. Please follow it to avoid mistakes:
THE SECRET SHOPPING ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS : The money order is from our finance company and was issued to cover the project bills for your wages and assignment. You should first take it to your bank and cash immediately, deduct your first wages which is $250, then the remaining balance should be used for the assignment below.
We are shopping in any Western Union location this time, we always instruct our secret shopper to shop according to the report made by different customers from various stores and Western Union has been the talk of the town from almost all of their customers that send money often. They were said to be slow and having bad customer relations. - Your first assignment is to proceed to any Western Union outlet near your location to find out about their Trading and Operation system. As a secret shopper , you should pretend as if you are a client and want to send money and memorize all you see at the outlet.

We want you to report back to us on the following informations today:
1)Full name and address of the Western Union location that you visited
2)Procedure of attendant (customer relation)
3)How many attendant are in the outlet
4)Security system {If any}
5)The duration it took for them in attending to one client and processing transfer

As a secret shopper your job is to observe, memorize, and evaluate everything going on in the outlet. Also, for the short period of minutes that it will take you to observe, memorize, and evaluate 1,2,3,4,5 above, you can't just walk in and out of the outlet without sending money or else you would be suspected. That is why we send you the funds to make a transfer during the process so that everything will go fine without any interference during your visit to the Western Union outlet. We authorize you to send the remaining balance after deducting your $250 to the below information provided for our upcoming exhibition.

Please make transfer to :
Name : Gloria Walton
Address:1375 West Elm Rd
City : Radcliff
State : KY
Zip: 40160

Be aware that Western Union is going to charge you a token to get this money sent, you should deduct the western union charges from the balance you have left with you and not from your own $250. Make sure you don't go with a note, only write down the name and address above along with you so that you will not make mistakes when sending the money, because if they see you writing anything down , they will definitely suspect you are a secret shopper. Just memorize all you see and report back to us. Your next assignment will commence immediately after you have reported back to us and your next payment will be included also.
Below are the details of what you should email back to us immediately when you are done with the assignment:
1)Full name and address of the Western Union location that you visited
2)Procedure of attendant
3)How many attendants are in the outlet
4)Security system {If any}
5)The duration it took for them in attending to one client and processing transfer
YOU SHOULD ALSO GET BACK TO US WITH THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ABOUT THE MONEY YOU HAVE SENT VIA THE WESTERN UNION OUTLET: 1) Senders Name and Address
2) 10 Digit Money Transfer Control Number {MTCN}
3) The amount transfered after deducting western union charges.

P:S: You should use your full name and address when sending the money. Please make sure you execute all the assignment today immediately after you recieve the package and get back to us with details requested above. Happy Shopping.

Christopher Rivers
