Thank you for sending me the message on "ANDREW SMITH" -- busylap@yahoo.com -- flexchin@yahoo.com -- flexxxchin@yahoo.com. Please it is possible for you to give me his profile name on the website where you met him? Would you like to share more information with me? And for God's sake send no money to the jerk..... He took me big time...... I'm now working with the FBI.

I have been corresponding with a man named David Bannet, claims to be half american, half Norweigan, divorced and now lives in New Jersey for two months. He is a gold dealer and claims now to be stranded in Accra because he used all the money he had for shipping his gold. He has repeatedly asked me for money to get him home and I won't send it to him. He used the ploy of his computer being lost by the airlines and I foolishly sent him one. I have since read that is a popular scam that is used in Accra. He is supposedly flying to the US next week but I am sure something will happen and he will be delayed again with another money request for me. He goes by the name of David Bannett, DavidBannett@yahoo.com. He claims to be 46 and a systems anaylsist/businessman. I believe he is Andrew Smith but with different photos. He was on Match.com as Mymoment333.

I think he is on match now as Jagman___007, just a feeling I have because this man winked at me and I responded and then David IMed me that I broke his heart by being on match again.

I have pics and I got the same story and lines! He never asked for money just marriage. I figured he needed to stay in the country and his VISA was to expire. He is also appearing to be Mark Smith on myspace. Has a son Ben that lives with him his wife and brother both dead. He sells and imports lap tops. Wanted me to help him raise his son since he travels alot.

it started mid november when i had a profile on roommates.com. the dumb here thought he would have a house fully for me in new york and no rent included, i just have to help him with money transfers from his clients. he said he lives in uk, money orders take up to 48 hours so he needs me to help. uh alright, i did receive his first check. looked kind of shady but i went deposit it without thinking...just the ''luxury in new york'' that is. anyway, the bank deducted the check twice, insufficient funds. i emailed him go uh whats going on? he sent me 2 more, actual checks from clients not a paper one if you will, i didnt do anything. he stopped emailing for 3 days, and i went ahead emailed him regarding my ''study abroad'' and i cannot service him anymore. he went crazy, ha. PLEASE DO THIS blah blah blah...now i gotta let him go eventually cause even my parents are scared that he would send ppl to rob the house. : \

thats my story...and im glad that i had a second thought though, otherwise i would have 3000 dollars negative onto my account. phew..

ok it looks like i too am being scammed by an Andrew Smith.i was on this site called roommate.com in the hopes of finding a roommate to move in with.out of nowhere i get this message in my inbox:
"My name is ANDREW SMITH,I am 40 years old and i am an european.I come to the states often mostly for business purposes cos i deal mostly in jewellry.I supply watches,bracelets,wedding rings and jewellry to stores in the states and europe.Infact that is my family business cos we are from UK.I bought a house last year in NEW YORK i love it there.

It is peaceful and with a loving neighbourhood. Unfortunately my father passed away on the 25th of JUNE 2008 and as the only son in my family i have to go and take care of the family business back in the UK and i realised that it will be very difficult to supply goods to my clients again in the United states while am away and it will definitely cost me a lot to come over to receive payments cos they pay mostly in checks and money orders .So to run the business from there it will be difficult and will be impossible especially the aspect of payment and i dont also want to lose my clients or customers there . So what i intend doing is that i am looking for some one to stay at my house free of charge .

I dont want to sell the house cos i just bought it.I am simply looking for someone that is honest and trustworthy and clean for two reasons 1. to maintain the house when i am away and 2.To help me receive payments from my clients within the USA on my behalf in his/her name and have it cashed cos they pay mostly checks and money orders and have the funds wired to me here in the UK thru money gram transfer/western union transfer . you dont have to pay me a dimme for the accommodation. its just for the purpose of keeping my business going on in the United state.and if you wanna keep this assignment as a job let me know so i can allocate 10% on each payment that you receive that is if at all, you dont wanna live in the house or if you are far from the house..........

The house is a great one with clean bathrooms,walk in closet,A gym,All rooms and living room furnished with electronics and very close to any means of transportation .If you are interested in handling my business in the state and keeping the house neat,send me an email to my email address on :andsmith005@hotmail.com

Ensure that you mail back to my email address as i might not be able to view the roommates.
{andsmith005@hotmail.com}
{andsmith005@hotmail.com}

please send me your:
Full name:
Contact Address:
Phone number:

Thanks,
ANDREW SMITH
CELL:01447035935311"

the offer is very good and tempting so i email him to discuss it with him.i tried processing his first payment for him a while ago and the banks told me that the check was fake.he tells me later on that all his client's money was already withdrawn which was why it didnt work,but my accountant told me nothing about it was legit(the routeing number,account,everything).
he assures me hes "an honest man and not trying to con anyone".
today i recieved another check of his to process and he assures me that this time nothing will go wrong.however both the check and the package look suspicious

also after the first check returned due to "reason-fictitious/altered",i decided to run him through some search engines and look up his business and addrress etc,i cant find anything at all.he tells me his business name is AS(Andrew Smith) Jewelry Ltd but its not in any listings in the UK

after i take this next check of his to the bank later im gona ask the bank to examine and look into it to verify if its fake or not for me.if they cant find anything wrong with it before i deposit it and after the process it takes for it to clear and the same thing does happen again,im not gona bother with this guy anymore.

though if they dont find anything rong with it when i ask them to look at it i dont think i'll try and cash it cuz if this guy has learned to make it look more authentic or whatever and it fools the bank i'll probably be in jail or paying the banks $2900

I would bet that the check is fake. Some bank employees cannot even spot the fakes . . . that is how good they are.

Also, just because the money has "cleared" does not mean that the check is good (I did a blog on this topic recently)
You have to wait for the check to be honored by the bank of issue.

Hello,

So even after the first check came back as fake, you still are going to EVEN CONSIDER the possibility of depositing the second one?

How many more signs do you need before you realize that they are trying to scam you?

Sorry, this is just beyond my understanding.

It would be nice if they could ban by IP address, not just by email address.

Wow, this sight is a beautiful thing. I am currently in talks with "Andrew Smith." He contacted me on roommates.com. Same email that Capt Jack 90 had, only some of the dates have changed. In my email, his dad died in Oct 2008. I knew this deal was too good to be true. I asked him about his business, and he said it was called AS Jewelry LTD, "but the website is not up and running yet." Right now we are only in the talking about it phase. I am really glad that I decided to google his email address. It sent me to this website. Thank you all for posting about scams. Nothing has happened, as of yet. I did not give him any of my info, thank goodness. We were just emailing, and I was telling him, how wonderful his offer is. Now I know why. I'll be emailing him that I am no longer interested.
