you need to go to another bank and open a new account right away, and have all direct deposits that go into the first account turned off so that you have money to live off of!

Go here

for more information on things to do.

i would have been happy to have knowledge of these scams before it happened to me.i was notified to cash a check and purchase a money gram and do a mystery shop at wal mart then i would keep the remaining balance as my commission.
i went online to check the validity of company and bank and they were all valid.so the next day i called the bank and verifyied the funds and checked the info on the bank acct-all was verifyied and
i was told all was valid bye the main branch of the bank.so assuming all was ok,i proceeded to my bank who cashed the check without any questions.15 minutes later they came to my home demanding the money back saying it was a fraud.so i called a witness and asked them to meet me at the bank and gave the money back in full.that wasnt the end .theytold me the bank could find out who was responsible and they would be prosecuted and i wouldnt have to do anything else.so i leave embarrased over the matter and go home.over a week later i go into my bank to do a transaction and i am told they deposited the check into my acct without my permissonand that it would not show up on my records not to worry.well the check came back on a closed acct so now this returned ceck is on my acct records and they will not remove it.so i am investigating what to do now.

So..........you have a returned check on your account, that does not affect you in any form or fashion unless they charged you the fee. Do you think a returned check is reported to your credit bureau? I cannot fathom why you are making a big deal about this, if the bank had not been diligent and quickly asked for the money back, you would have owed them the entire amount. They saved you money.

Could they have reversed the transaction? Maybe, but apparently they did not.

Can you please post the name of the company he was pretending to be with, and the email address that he used? Sometimes others will google that info, and then their search will lead them here and they will know it is a scam.

Thanks

I posted a while ago about a 'Money Gram outlet' related job offer I received, ostensibly from Craigslist.

This is the contact information from the original email I received:

Jake Donald
Marketing and Research Co ordinator

VINTAGE MARKETING LLC
1316 East State Avenue
Phoenix AZ 85202

I have since emailed back and said I am no longer interested, and to remove me from their roster.

Have you wired any of that money to anyone? If so, contact the service you used to see if it has been picked up . . . if it has not, then they might be able to stop the transfer.

If you have NOT wired any money then you need to place a police report, then contact the check cashing place and let them know that you just found out that this is a scam and that the check will be coming back as counterfeit. You can work it out with them as to if they want the money back now or if they want to wait until the check is returned to them as counterfeit before you return the money. Whatever you do, do not spend the money because they WILL be asking for it back.

I almost fell for this but I figured out what they probably were gonna try and do. Well being that I watched a special on mystery shoppers and think it would be interesting i found anothre one on craigslist and it was the same deal... be careful because they change their names and email addresses all the time I suspect. These are the ones I have been told.
Alvin Curls at easyworkteam@gmail.com for Universal Evaluation Inc
and
Aaron Saxby at saxbyevaluations@yahoo.com for Saxby Evaluations

Also i think I found a scam for someone to help said person move from one apt to another while they are gone and they pay $500 for the move. We emailed back and forth but when he never answered my questions I got suspicious and this one was the icing on the cake. Also I found almost the same add on craigslist again with a different name and slightly different story but for the same amount of $. I will put the email on here so ppl can either look out or give me their advice.

Good morning

how was your day ? am sorry for not writing you ontime it was due to my illness.. thanks for the quick response,it shows your effectiveness and seriousness you have already convinced me that you are a good Mover,I'm looking for a reliable and honest person to help with the packing and moving of the listed items from my old to new apt within the area.

HERE ARE THE STUFFS YOU WILL HELP MOVE.

I'm willing to pay $500 for moving this items within 1hour (one or two guys,no stair case or elevator),i think this is a reasonable price since you already have the list of items I'm moving and the distance,it shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours to have this items moved, you will be provided with the date and time by my new landlord,as soon as I'm done making payments to you for the moving he will be taking you to the pick up and drop off address in person immediately i contact him that i have finally paid for the moving service I want the moving to be done before i get back to the states by 24th.,i already made arrangements for the payment and also the keys to the apts,my landlord will be showing you the apts so the locations shouldn't be a problem,he will there to help you,i will be calling the landlord of the old apt so he can be around the house for packing,i will instruct my client to issue and mail out the payment he owes me so you can deduct the $500 which i believe is a reasonable amount for moving the items listed within the area, have the remaining funds wired to the landlord of the new apt via WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER so he can bring down the keys to you and he would be available when you drop the items, the remaining funds you will be wiring to the new landlord is the balance payment for my new apt,I'm only doing this cause I'm presently out of the states and i want things to go smooth and perfect before my return.

Ellis.

sokpuppy,
Thank you so much for posting the names and email addresses that the scammers are using. These are things that people can do a google search on, and then find our site before they get sucked into the scam.

I feel like we almost need someone to watch craigslist all the time to find the scam ads like these.

Thanks again,

Know what I say> I say scam THEM BACK! Get a fake ID and a fake adress and let them send you the check. Then cash it and keep their stupid money. Hell, if you're a resorcful enough person and can get fake IDs wherever, scam them SEVERAL TIMES BACK! Serves them damn right.

They will send you the check, no problem . . . but the check is COUNTERFEIT so if you cash it at your bank they will come after you for the money once they see that it is counterfeit (usually takes about a week). If you take it to a check cashing place then you will end up stealing from that store . . . they store owner would be out the money, not the scammer, and the store owner COULD come after you with criminal charges.

Here's the latest:

Philadelphia craigslist:

recuitagenciesss@gmail.com
"The Golden Evaluation Team"
Johnson Derin

They sent me a check via UPS for 2500 some odd bucks and told me to make a Western Union money transfer.

If you are arriving at this page via a google search, know that this is a SCAM. Do NOT do ANYTHING with that check except turn it into the police.

I will also turn in the envelope and all other evidence, anything can help.

And to the perpetrator of this scam: get a life.

Well, we fell for the scam! They used Lightspeed Consumer Panel (which I belong to and I believe is legit) as their company name. They took me for $1,520. The guy I spoke to had an accent and his "name" was Michael Daddy. Fortunately that's all they took me for. My husband went to the bank to make them aware of the situation. They said last week a lady was taken for $4,500. YIKES! Here is the original email they sent me. Looking at it now, it doesn't even much the letter I was sent. The money gram I sent was for $1,450.! Any advice on what I should do now. The emails they used was Trish Bailey <contact@consumersurvey.cjb.net>,Survey Volunteers <info@lightspeed.cjb.net>,
