I have read several postings concerning the "Mystery Shopper" scam on Craig's list. I replied to the add and was accepted. I received a confirmation email describing the mystery shopping assignment shopping at Wal Mart and using their Money Gram services. I received a $4,000.00 check via UPS. There were no instructions. I called the local police and they were very responsive and actually directed me to this site.
Beware of this company. They are not ligit!!!!

I got scammed too by applying on Craigs List to the Mystery Shoppers Advertisment on March 6th, 2008. I just received a check via UPS for $4000 to do shops at WalMart and MoneyGram. I called the bank listed on the check to verify funds (Regions Bank in Florida) and they did not issue this "Official Check" as it states on the check. I am going to the police tomorrow with everything I have on Global Evaluations/ Magnitude Evaluations. The person name on my emails from (info2.globalevaluations@googlemail.com) is John Hummer with a telephone number that does not work 626-310-1084 and 323-210-6040 both have ext 131200 listed and it does not work. BEWARE!!! I want to prosecute these frauds! Any supporters?

I received a check for $4500.00 via USPS in a plain white envelope with the same task, shop and Wal-Mart and transfer two amounts at two different MoneyGram locations. My instructions were to keep $400.00 and $100.00 in merchandise that I purchased from Wal-Mart. The letter even included an evaluation checklist of things I was supposed to pay attention to during my visits to the store... I knew that this did not look right from the moment I opened the envelope!

So glad to find this forum, for I just got off the phone with some dirtbag I could hardly understand from this Global evaluater something or other place that I was just about ready to jump on until the last email sent smelled about as bad as my farts! A google search brought me to this site here, and my assumptions were correct! I found this secrect shopper position on Craigslist and responded. They accepted me without even having me fill out that bogus application. BEWARE people! The money gram Wal mart thing is spreading. take care.

From craigslist advertisement and a ridiculous application.

Watch out for universal evaluation Inc. at <info.universalevaluationinc@yahoo.com>, and hiring manager James Williams: Similar situation for $2,550.

You are stuck paying the money back otherwise you may face criminal charges and/or civil suits. I agree it is out of hand. Please post as much info as you can to try and help others not fall for the same scam.

I think I was scammed!!! :x I received a check for $2500 by UPS and was told to deposit it in my bank immediately and withdrawal $2000 to send through money gram, another $100 was for the fee to send it. Then was also asked to purchase $100 worth of merchandise from Macy's. My bank called me today to inform me the check for $2500 did not clear, and now I have to pay all that money back!!! I have sent an email back to the person I was corresponding with about the "Mystery Shopper" but have not received any answer yet!!!! :(
The emails are going to: generalmotorsevaluationinc@gmail.com

I was just informed that the bank the check was written off of, is a fraudulent account!! Now I need to fill out an affidavit with my bank, and they will let me know after that what I will be responsible for... hopefully not the whole amount!

The deposit agreement you signed when you opened the account will state "anything that is deposited is the responsibility of the signer on the account"

Good luck with the bank but I feel they will ask you for the entire amount.
