Hey everyone,

I found this website which may interest you all. It is about scams in general and describes several as well as telling you how to protect yourself.

the url is: http://sociopathicfun.typepad.com

This url actually relates to identity theft in particular, I'm sure you'll all find it intersting, I know I did http://sociopathicfun.typepad.com/sociopathic_fun/2006/12/the_waiter_con.html

HEY,

I came across your site while looking for information on crime prevention and dealing with identity theft, which I myself was recently a victim of.

I had my handbag stolen, losing my keys, wallet including driving licence and credit cards, mobile phone and photos of my children. I found your site helpful and informative, and am writing to you to suggest considering including a link to the Cornhill Direct crime prevention site, which I found to be extremely helpful and wish I had found before having my bag stolen (as I found myself with no insurance, having to fork out a lot of money to get everything back), not to mention the worry and stress it caused our family. The website is: http://www.cornhilldirectcrimeprevention.co.uk/

Cheers,

HEY,

I was the victim of ID theft over Christmas, almost entirely as a result of not having disposed of sensitive paperwork (bills, bank statements etc.) whilst having a festive clear-out... it was a nightmare, and it's still going to be ages and a good deal more hassle before we can expect to recover all the money lost (about 2K!) hence a shredder has been my most important investment of the year yet! I've found some pretty good advice about avoiding ID theft and suchlike in a crime prevention website from our insurers Cornhill Direct here: http://www.cornhilldirectcrimeprevention.co.uk/

Cheers,

jojo x

I think shredders are very important too and are a must for everyone although I'd recommend getting a cross cut shredder as strip cut versions will shred the paper into long strips that can easily be pieced together after. I know it sounds like something out of a movie (I'm sure I've seen it happen in one, but I've no idea what it's called) but it does actually happen!
