I suspect the widow next door is being scamed out of her building by a group of people. These people have roots in Oregon, Yucca Valley Ca. and Alaska. I suspect they have pulled this scam before. They "help" the victim by telling them their building is very dangerous and in need of major work. They then go in and do "busy" work, like replacing a railing 3 times. They work with no permits or licenses. They never hire local people. They always bring in their own workers from out of the area . They then bill the victim crazy amounts. Amounts that allow them to put liens against the buildings and in the end they get the building and the victim gets nothing. They people are very dangerous and are threatening me for trying to expose them. They have destroyed personal property of mine and I fear they will attack me personally next. The local police just keep saying it's a civil matter and refuse to do anything. I can't afford a lawyer and am not sure what one could do anyway. I don't know where to turn.

I don't know if I should just walk away and let this poor women get taken or if I should continue to try and expose these people.

Could you call the local media? Many of them have an investigative reporter who might want to take up this story and they will watch them, check into them and then expose them if they are corrupt.

Good idea but I tried contacting 3 TV stations and the local paper. I guess it's just not juicy enough for them. I've tried the local building authorities, (They have a back log of 4-5 months, before they can get to it). The local DA (he has to wait until they are actually caught before he can do anything) Senior Services says she's not a senior.(she's only 60). Nobody seems to care. I wonder why I do?

Have you tried the Attorney General's office?
