Had a fantastic phonecall yesterday from a so called italian in Milan wanting to purchase my property for sale in France for the full amount 80,000 euros ,having only seen pictures on my homepage for it!
He also wanted to pay 30,000 of that in cash as a holding deposit the rest to be be paid by bankers draft from switzerland where he works.
Also he was prepared to arrange flights,accomodation and expenses for myself and partner to fly to Milan on MONDAY to talk with his accountant(don't know why??)
The phonecalls were actually dealt with by my hubby who talks both french and english fluently,as this guy did not speak english but italian with broken french??So this conversation was not a easy one.
It was a very easy scam to start believing but what got me was this ASAP meeting with the accountant WHY? on earth would a seller wish to go speak to a prospective buyers accountant for a property NOT a buisness??
Would very much like to hear of other known scams similiar to this one.
Remember if it sounds to good to be true it probably is!!!
