Post subject:  How To Get The Scammer Back .
i think im in the middle of a scam attempt . . .
and im trying to figure out if there is any way to turn it around on them ?

i got the one where im supposed to cash a 3400 dollar check , keep 100 , and moneygram the rest .

what happens if i just deposit the check , and keep it in my account to collect interest ?
or invest it in a mutual fund or something . making sure i have it available if the bank determines its bogus (if it indeed is) so i can just give it back to the bank ?

i'll try to delay the scam until someone responds .

Will your 10 days of interest outweigh the returned deposit fee, or what if the bank closes your account because of the intentental depositing of a counterfeit item? What if you are reported on Chexsystems as a potentiall liability to all finaincial institutions, because of your history of depositing a counterfeit...............yeah I do not think that idea will bear fruit.

PS NEVER EVER deposit a counterfeit item, it can cause you legal problems.

There is no way to turn it around on them, because when the check does come back as counterfeit the bank will withdraw the amount of the check out of your account, putting you back where you started.

There are some people who have made it a hobby to try and waste the scammers time. This is called scam baiting and one of the best places to learn how to do this is at http://www.419eater.com/

I just received two moneygrams for $1000 a each. They also wanted me to go to my bank to cash them and then go to western union and send out $1750.00 somewhere. I was not sure about the whole thing. So, I called moneygram to verify what I had received. They immediately told me that they were no good. Thank goodness commonsense can take you a long way.
No sense in trying to get back at them. There should be strict laws against this. They sent them to me by ups. And they are use moneygrams name. Shouldn't these companies stand up and fight too? :?

First, I am glad to hear that you did not become a scam victim.

Second, I agree with you . . . there should be laws to protect people against this, and the companies that the scammers use should do more to help stop the scams.
