Post subject:  Looking for Victim's Stories for Magazine Article

Hello all,

I apologize if this is the wrong venue for this, just let me know otherwise and I'll be happy to move the post to a more appropriate location.

I'm writing an article on online identity theft (theft resulting from an online data breach or hacking) for a national publication, and wanted to ask the members of this forum if anyone would be willing to share their stories with me. This is 100 percent legitimate--I'm just looking to shed some light on an issue that I think has fallen by the wayside in an era of abundant website hackings, with no real reporting on the human impact, in the hope of influencing policy. PM me if you're interested, and I'll share the magazine I'm working for, more about the piece, etc. Thank you all and I hope to have an opportunity to speak with some of you soon.

Best,
Jeff

Just wanted to let people know that this person did contact me before posting. I would trust him as a legit media person.

Please let us at Scam Victims United know if there is any other way we can help or when the article will be on your site.

Hi all and thank you Shawn,

I'll keep you updated as the story progresses--at this stage I could really use to speak with anyone that has been impacted by ID theft, and in what ways it has affected your life. It's been my experience as a reader that the real human impact has not been adequately addressed, and real stories (whether you feel comfortable giving your real name or not) is what will get people and policy makers to pay attention.

Many thanks and hope to hear from some of you.
