the Global Intellectual Property Center http://www.theglobalipcenter.com/ has a campaign against rogue websites. Criminals are able to dupe unsuspecting consumers into online fraud involving counterfeit products, fake prescription drugs, etc. The GIPC has been a very vocal supporter of the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act http://www.theglobalipcenter.com/pages/ ... -act-coica currently being debated in the US Senate. COICA would give the government an enhanced tool to take down the worst offending rogue websites that are blatantly engaged in the sale of counterfeit goods or online goods. To help show support for this issue, the GIPC is interested in recruiting victims of these websites who would be willing to come forward to share their story. The GIPC would like to connect these victims with members of the media for stories about IP, counterfeit goods or rogue websites or have their testimonial featured on their website. If you are a victim who would be willing to come forward and speak to the media, please contact me ASAP. This is your chance to stand up and have your voice heard and possibly help to influence laws that would protect consumers. |
