I have received a check from FeXco Global Award Inc. for $3991.00 with instructions to call a number. I am presuming, after reading other emails that this is a fraud, but have not seen that name in any of them. Can you tell me if this is a new scam? Thanks

What is the background on the check? It helps us if you can post why this check was sent to you since checks just don't get randomly sent to people.

teresa,
The checks are counterfeit. If you deposit them and try to use them the bank may say that they are clear at first, but in about 2 weeks they will come back as counterfeit and the bank will want YOU to pay the money back. I would cut off all contact with these people.

I have received a letter in the mail with a check for $3,996.00 and it said to contact Ms.Amy Morrison or Mr. Timothy Porter and I did then I took the check to the bank to see if they could cash it and they said that i would have to open a bank account so I did then I received a phone call from my bank telling me that the check has been set back. I had no idea that the Fexo Global Award Inc. were scams. So what do I now that I have been scamed. thanks

Well what you do now depends:

Have you sent any of the money via Western Union or some other wire transfer? If not and all the money was left in your account then the account should be zero. If you did then make payment arrangements with your bank ASAP and do so in person with all of your letters, emails, and other documents from the scammers. Then I would go to the agencies listed here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2127

and some others listed around on the site. I would also contact your local branch of the secret service, US postal inspectors (if the check came in via USPS), police department, etc and report the crime to them if you have been scammed out of money.

great advice

a couple of other things

Other Things To Do:
Close any other accounts that you have at that bank so they cannot freeze those accounts
Turn off any direct deposits you have going into that account
Turn off any automatic payments or withdrawals you have coming out of that account
Open an account at another bank

okay, so you deposited the check . . . did you take any of the money out or wire it to anyone? If not, you are still fine, you have not lost any money. You need to go to your bank and let them know that you did some research and found out that the check you deposited was part of a scam. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TAKE ANY PORTION OF THAT MONEY OUT OF THE BANK AND SEND IT TO ANYONE!!!!
