I received today an email from "Bank of America" saying someone attempted to access my information, etc. etc. etc. This is a scam folks....I don't even have an account with Bank of America!
Looks very legit giving an IP address, ISP host and attempted login date., signed by David Renwick.
Small print also says I can "opt out" receiving any other emails from them (HA!)

I am seeing this scam more and more . . . also can be sent out as "Your PayPal Account" or "Your Ebay account" . . . we get them too, and we do not have a PayPal or Ebay account.

The scammers just send out thousands of these and hope that a small percentage of the people who get it will actually have an account with the business listed and go to the link. If you do, they will ask you for personal information that they can use to steal your identity or drain your bank account.

I get a lot of these as well.

One that has the potential to scare people not familiar with phishing is the Pay pal one. They send you a note saying something like,

Dear customer,

This is to verify that you have changed your email address to somethingdodgy@someemail.com and your user name to mrdodgy. bla bla bla...
