The MacBook Pro scam is in St. Louis too, I called his bluff at the western union request and he became irate. It was the same dialogue that has been posted here - claims he just moved and the time is in a warehouse conveniently far enough away that you cannot get it yourself, moneybookers look alike link sent from a moneybookers adddress, pasted in with link to western union.

I reported it to craigslist and it's gone now. I tried to get through to moneybookers as they are the ones that are getting their reputation smeared, no luck. Have to have a UK address to register for sending an e-mail. No toll free numbers either. Will print it out and send snail mail, it really angers me that a few have to ruin a good thing.

Not sure what else to do, he did list a name and address for the wire so perhaps there is a way for the UK to investigate? Any suggestions?

BUYER BEWARE, even on craigslist.

Steamed in St Louis

Feel free to post the name and email address of the person that you were in contact with. Often other people will google that information, so if they try it again with the same email address and someone tries to search that info, it will bring them here and they will know that it is a scam.

Posting a scammers e-mail might be in vain. Most use it one time to try to 'catch a fish' and then abondon it. The info they use to get the e-mail address is bogus anyway. The 3rd party 'money holder' contacts are 'ID authentic' only for the pickup of the wired cash. ID's are a piece of cake to make and since they tell you who to send the money to, they already are prepared to present the right info to get the cash.
If you find a deal that you KNOW is a fraud or scam, notify the owners of the list it is posted on to flag it for review (like overposts) or other violations of the list owners terms.
You can also waste the scammers time (time is money) and play the game up to the point of sending any real personal info (like your real name, address and/or phone number or MONEY (you to can set up a bogus e-mail address). Question the item or the location of it. Ask if you can see it. Tell them you have a friend in the area that will look at it and buy it from them on the spot. Of course they will have an excuse for anything you propose because it has to be on their terms in order to complete the scam or fraud. Just like any phisherman, they hate to lose a fish before they land it!!!! So they will keep trying to get you to buy it. Will they try to come after you. Not likely, they are trying to be invisible and do not want to expose themselves. They don't know if you are the authorities trying to catch them and no way will they step out of their 'internet hide a way' and be caught red handed. Just be confident that some day they will be caught.

If anyone is thinking of baiting the scammers, I suggest that they do some more research on the topic first. Visit the site 419eater.com for some great info.

Yes, email addresses come and go quickly, but I have seen many people saved from these scams by doing a google search on an email address, and that search leads them to a post on this site so that is why I still encourage people to post the info.

Probably the reason the second chance offers are not replied to is that they come across as a possible scam, with the all the ebay scams that go around.

I have gotten several lately, and with all the ebay "spoofs" from the scammers, Im very cautious who I reply to, and how can you be sure the "second chance offers" you receive are legit?
