Can someone tell me - what is the scam associated with these emails for renting? Also, what happens when you respond?
Here's one I received recently from jennifer007@yahoo.com.

I am still interested in renting your room and I will be delighted to read about the utilities that are available in the home.

I am English and I reside in the United Kingdom. I am 26yrs and I am a graduate student from the University of Manchester, England. I would be enrolling at the University for my post grad studies.

I am a Christian and I am a down to earth lady. I get along with people easily. I don't smoke and I drink socially.

My hobbies are traveling, cooking, Nascar, arts, painting, listening to music, dancing, swimming, badminton, tennis and reading.

I love meeting people and hanging out with friends. I also love going to the movies once in a while. I like been neat and clean cos cleanliness is part of holiness. I will like you to tell me about yourself as well.

I would move into the home in June and I would rent the unit for 12months. I would like to know the monthly rent and the terms and conditions for securing the unit. I hope to read from you soon. God Bless.

Jennifer

they will send you a cashier's check for the deposit, and it could be for more than it was supposed to be, and they ask you to wire the rest back . . . or, they send the check and then something comes up and they have to back out of the deal, but since you have already deposited the check they ask you to just wire them the money . . . a week later the bank finds out that the check is counterfeit and they come looking for you to get the money back.
