Hey everyone!! I just found this site tonight and I'm so glad I did. I got suspious of this girl after a couple of emails. I have seen this same email several times posted on this site, of course the name and gender are different. These emails are basically copies of each other. So what do I do now? I'm not cashing or sending money to anyone. Who do I need to report this too?

So i'll client to see you'll get the payment prior to my arriving date.

Thanks for the informations. I'm very happy to hear from you. I intend to come down after my properties might have been safely set on deck. However, you're most likely to receive the payment soon and i'm still on a look out for a shipper. I'll let you know as soon as i get one okay. How are you doing? i hope you're having a wonderful time...I'm so glad to inform you that i got a shipper that will be moving my things down but unfortunately he insisted on advance payment before proceeding with the shipment....However, i would love to ensure that my properties were safely set on deck before coming down.

Please be also informed that you'll be receiving the package sometimes next week hopefully before Tursday 25th ok.....And as soon as you received the package, kindly take it to your BANK to cash and deduct the fee for my room thereafter ok....So, after the deduction, i'll need your assistance in sending part of the balance through WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER or MONEY GRAM office to my shipper asap so that he can proceed with the shipment on time.......I'll provide the information that you'll be needing to send the money and the exact amount to send later ok.

Sure you can send the balance to me I mean my personal informations if you really don't want to send money to the third party I can understand it will only cost me an extra charge to resend the cash to the shipper's office.

Concerning the payment, It's a bonus for the time span of work and will be issued and send to you through a issuing client managing our housing allowance, It has to be send to our newly landlord or roommate for those of us resigning and relocating to the state, Even if you are giving me the room for free you just have to help me in obtaining the housing fund since you are the person offering me a place to move in, I hope you can understand I am not the one paying directing it's an Housing allowance.

I will let you know my departure date and flight detail as soon as I book my flight, I will be resuming back to the office on Monday, hope to be keeping you posted till then, have a pleasant weekend.

I sent this person a email telling her that I was aware of what she was trying to pull on me. I also posted a new classified on myspace letting everyone know about her and the scam she was trying to pull. I emailed myspace to let them know also. They have deleted her profile, but; she will probably posted another under a different name.

Yeah she/he will probably just start up a new profile since it is easy to do. I am glad you didn't get taken to the cleaners.

Ran an add for a roommate on roommates.com and almost got sucked in!
Became suspicious when I received 3 inquiries ALL from out of the Country. Googled "roommate scam" and found this forum.

Thank You all... You saved me a lot of time and grief!!!

What bugs me the most is these individuals pretend to be Christians... Ending their e-mails with "God Bless", asking about churches in the area, etc.
A true follower of Christ would never do something so dishonest and hurtful!

So what now??? How do I find a decent, honest roommate?!?

How about you have a friend be your roommate? That way you already know them and are less likely to get scammed. Just a suggestion.

Keep in mind I never wrote anything back to him that would even make a man say this stuff about a woman. I kept thinking he was emailing someone else and didn't realize he was emailing me. So I started looking around for some key info that he has placed in to some of his emails. and it landed me at this web site.

I do have pictures that this person sent me of himself and is home. I doubt it is even him but I did keep thes incase someone is interested in seeing them. you can contact me through the email link below and I will send them to you.

The thing that stood out to me in Kelly's post was the description of the guy. He said he was 6 ft 4 in. tall and 144 pounds? The guy would be near death if this was accurate and would look like he just came out of a Nazi camp.

I, too, just posted an ad on roommatelocator.com and got several email from people pretending to be Americans but couldn't even write a decent sentence without major grammatical errors. How stupid do these people think we Americans are? At least learn how to write proper English before you pretend to be American. Well, I'll keep pretending to be stupid, I guess. At least I'll get some satisfaction out of them wasting their money on fake checks and postage.
