I have been a victim of a Nigerian Damsel In Distress scam. They were good and knew exactly what to do to get what they wanted. It wasn't about hooking up or anything else, my concern is that this was a woman who claimed to live ion the same city as me, and she needed help. I did get her money for her hotel bill so she can obtain a reissued passport at the embassy in Lagos. Then it came to flying back here and she need money for the ticket. She had $1000 and I sent $1500 to make sure she had the money for the flight home.
She claimed she flew in on Birtish Airways but they didn't have any record of her in their system. I checked with the travel agency that she claimed to use and they didn't have any record. I contacted the embassy in Lagos, Nigeria and they sent me a pamphlet about Nigerian scams. She stated her husband and children were killed in an accident in New York. The Social Security death index didn't have anyone by the names she stated as dying during the time period. She told me an address that she lived at here and there was some one else living there. All this and I still refused to see what was going on. My focus was to help a person that I believed was in trouble. There was the promise to pay back all the money once she returned.
The final 2 x 4 was when she was suppose to arrive in St Louis and she didn't. I checked with the airline and they didn't have her in their system. That was it and the realization sunk in that I was scammed and good. Now I have to pay back this money somehow and definitely move on.
Here are the particulars: Her name is Janice Gace and uses another name of Dada Abolaji. They work out of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her Yahoo account is closed but she is now using MySpace. Beware because she is good

There are 2 more pictures that I will post. The one with the red hair and the red and white top is the one she is currently using.
I have been contacted by a Janice Marie Gace from London. She claims that the email address is really hers and she noticed my name on emails that were in here junk mail. She contacted me. I am going to see where this goes. So far, it may not be the same person becasue her typing style is much better and cleaner than the scammer that orginally contacted me.
Time will tell and I won't fall again.

There is a site called Internet Love Scams. I have posted there and have found that I wasn't the first. It makes me feel a little better.
I have received a phone call about a woman who had an accident while travelling and she is in intensive care. They found my number as a point of contact. I told them what they can do with that scam.
I have been contacted by a Janice Marie Gace wno lives in London and is a model. We have chatted a few times and she has asked for nothing. However, she is in "Nigeria" now on a photo shoot and she states that her family is there. They were deported from England years ago and she was left behind. She is on her final modelling shoot and wants to settle down. She has sent me a picture. I am waiting to see what hits the fan. It definitely won't be hard to say no and break communication. She does use the same email address as the scammer that got me.
She contacted me because she saw my name in her junk mail box and curiosity got her. She deosn't believe in scams. We will see what happens.

Has she sent you messages through the Facebook system?

It is either the same person who scammed you or someone else who is working with her/him/it. You can check the headers and find out if the IP address is the same or close to the same. To check the headers on yahoo click on fullheaders on the bottom of the message. Copy and Paste in the link below then click on check headers. If you need additional help anyone on Internet Love Scams will help you. Good Luck.

The 2nd Janice has done her thing.
Her story is that her manager tried to reape her, she fought him off, and he left her there, He wrote her a $60,000 check that can only be cashed in the UK.
She needs money to pay her hotel and get to Lagos for her return flight.
It is the same as the previous scenario wit a few changes.
She is using a different picture. Sha states that she is 6ft 3in tall. why would a tall woman like that profess her love to a short guy.
The scam won't work and I have sent a message explaining to her that I know it is a scam and it won't work.
I do believe that they are trying to figure another angle to get me to send money. Yes, I am playing with this to see how far she/ they will go.
I don't have money, the last scam made sure of that. I have told her I don't have money and don't have resources to get any. I am too deep in debt to even try for a loan.
Now we see where this is going to go IF I hear from her again

No, there weren't any messages from her through Facebook.
I didn't know she was on there. My son did a search and they found her and told me about it.
I am sure that I did get her off of myspace and I shut down the original email on Yahoo.
As it is, they can create a new identity and continue.

You could tell her you were able to get money to send to her. Then send her a 10 digit number so she can go to Western Union to pick up money that is not there. Just be safe when playing with them.

Dear Sir
I'm just finding out about romance scammers too. I didn't send money, but, I wasted time, energy, and emotions. They still contact me, changing their names and their stories. Evidently they have lists of likely victims. From what I am reading and I hope this to be true...the best way of dealing with them is to ignore them. Sadly, we can't help catch them. It sounds to me that the best thing we can do is keep networking with other targets, educate others and ourselves and then move on.

I used to have such high hopes of finding love. Now, I'd be happy with an understanding friend having a real beverage/meal and a good conversation. Simple, huh? I live in a rural area and I think I'm North of you if you are near St. Louis. I hope you find a real person to appreciate your kindness.

Hi sjdanza. It sounds like you are trying to bait your own scammer. It's not something that is generally recommended, and here is why. If you've sent any of your personal info, the scammer might use it against you if you make them mad enough. If you haven't given it to him, he already knows how to push some of your buttons to get you to do what he wants. Fear not however, the fun is not lost. You can still sign up an anonymous email address, select a different scammer out of the many listed here, or check out a love scam support board, and have at it. For more advice on baiting, feel free to pm myself, or a mod/admin and we can get you started more.
