This guys was stuck in Malyasia and had some problems and turned to me for help. I assumed he was a con artits. I WAS WRONG. He is not and I made a terrible assumption.

The only advice I can give is to not jump to conclusions before you have hard evidence.

This is my public apology to Rick Powell.

Anyone who befriends you via any online contact and asks for money is 100% guaranteed to be a scammer, especially someone that you have never actually met and has said he wants to marry you.

His story is typical of so many scammers, and yes the idea that he is a widow with a pre-teen daughter is very typical. So he was brought up in Mexico and found his way to South Africa and is now in Malaysia eh? There are plenty of African scammers in Malaysia, they swarm to the place as students or gain entry illegally. African... yes he will be African.

Why would he come to a complete stranger to ask for 20,000 USD for some 'machine' stuck in Malaysian Customs? A normal person would never do this, he is a liar, cheat, scammer and scum-bag.

Do not believe one single word of his lies, you are being groomed, and he will take everything you have got, and I'm not just talking about money.

As Biggles has stated... these actions are very typical of an overseas scammer... be very careful.

@ saffron_777

I do not see any Rick Powell post you made and are apologizing for. Can you tell us what made you think he is a scammer and what has you now convinced he is not?

About rick Powell I just want to know how many women there are that he caught with his lies. It's unbelievable. He went a step futher and ask a so called docter to call me and say he had an accident and need an operation but they need $2500.oo before they can do the operation. I just wonder for how many he promised his love and wat to marry them. I can't believe that there are still men that take advantage of other people by sob stories.

You'll never know, cause not everyone reports being scammed.
