Hello everyone. I'm new to internet dating and am a bit worried. I met someone a 2 months ago on eharmony. We met in person a month ago. We live 4 hours apart and he flew in and stayed at a hotel. We hit it off amazingly and he's bought a ticket for me to fly to see him. I wouldn't be so worried except for the fact that I asked for his name, address, business email, and other things to leave behind to protect myself. He laughed and said he understood but, when he gave me his work email it was different than where he had told me he worked. When I asked him about it, he said that he worked at more than one company. I did a reverse phone number search, found a different name, then googled that name just to find out it was him!! I also found an online resume that is a lot different than what he's told me so far. Am I being paranoid? I'm supposed to board a plane tomorrow. He seems so great and we have so much in common however, why would he lie about such simple things as how long he's lived in a certain city? Why would he tell me he's only been in America for a few years but it looks like he's gone to school and even has his master's degree here. Why would he lie about such simple things? He's asked me to not tell his friends that we met online cause he's embarrassed but, I haven't met any of his friends yet! Is that why he maybe changed his name on eharmony? I'm so confused however, I've cancelled on him twice now. I've even tried to buy some time by telling him I couldn't afford to fly out there and wish he would come back out here again. He made the excuse that he has to work and I have more time off. That way we could spend more time together. I don't want to ruin something out of my paranoia. We text, email, and chat a lot & so far he seems great...should I still be worried about the misinformation?

I think you are right to check things out, and to be worried when things do not match up.

I have to agree with the last one, I am currently still in a scam only they think i'm still roped in and still trying to get money from me, they have thrown out so many names, phone numbers, email addresses. I am the one writing a "scam in progress" which I will update as soon as I finish this. DO NOT GET ON THAT PLANE. These scammers will go to no end to get what they want. You don't want to be on their territory without support.
Check out scam in progress update today.
