This person, I found out afterwards, had two profiles on webdate using the same picture. (Benspecial and Tom...) One was listed as being from New York and 1 from California. I chatted with him through Yahoo and I was stupid enough to give him my cell phone number. He tested me several times and I actually called him once. His story with me was he was from the UK and recently moved to California. He worked in the leather industry and had just won a contract to supply goods but had to go to Africa - somewhere he had never been. Rainy day, poor roads, accident, I received a call from a "doctor", and he hit a little girl badly injuring her. He had no money and needed help. He actually gave me a number to his friend "Fred" in the UK. He contacted me asking why I wouldn't help, I told him this was classic scam. Amazingly his profile disappeared. I also noticed very bad grammer and spelling for someone who had a Phd. This is the only one I've actually talked with. I know there are others out there and caution ALL of us to be very careful on any dating site.
