He comes off as very intelligent and caring and loving and gets you to commit to coming to see him (he lives in Australia). I am here now, stranded, having forked over the money to come and not having the money to get back. He said his Dad would sponsor my work visa so I would not be financially strapped. I am getting ready to start school here, and met him in an online game, and things went from there. He sounds very respectable and stable online and over the phone or skype, but when I got here I found out he is a compulsive liar and completely mentally unhinged. He does this to many women, though he claims he has been a long time without a girlfriend; looking for the right one.

He plays Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan, Dark Age of Camelot, and a few others. He also goes by Rich or Richard and his email address always has a 666 in it or the name aziel or both. He claims to do charity work for Children's hospitals, and to be moderately well off. For the events at these hospitals he claims that he dresses as Jack Sparrow, but he actually thinks he is Jack Sparrow and looks like that every day.

He has severe mental problems, and lies all the time. He has no ability to commit to anyone, and is addicted to DELETE THIS POST, though he is the first one to condemn its use when talking in MSN. He offered to pay my way here, and then backed out at the last minute, claiming some problem with the bank. His dad did not even know I was coming to visit long term before school started. I was having paperwork issues with the University that accepted me, and so he invited me to come stay and get settled in before school started, offering to put me up and feed me and take me around to see the sights. He has put me up, but he closed himself off emotionally, and then I began to find out about all the lies by confirming information with his neighbors. He even told me his mum had passed away from cancer, and she is alive and well to be sure.

Be careful ladies, this one is a real charmer and knows all the right things to say.

I have been contacted by a media person who would like to speak to someone that was scammed and a charity was used in the scam in some way. Would you be willing to share your story? This could be a great way to help educate others about these scams.

Stranded:
Unfortunately I have just read this warning now. I actually had (at least what I considered to be) a relationship with him soon after. I know it's been a few years since your post, but I'd like to talk to you more about this, as I fell in love with him and then he just disappeared and gave me no closure. I'd really appreciate finally being able to understand.
