He says his name is Seadoff in eHarmony but signed his information as Nelson. His information shows he's based in Canada, but the church website he sent me shows that his church is in Canada. He sent me the URL of an oil company that he works for an offshore company. I have emailed eharmony but he still appears to be a member.

These Nigerians may be less than 1% of the country but they are very dangerous. I am Nigerian myself and as such, it is second nature to filter everything everyday and I am in shock because I nearly got sucked in by this evil monster. "BELIEVE NOTHING CHECK EVERYTHING"!!!, AND EVEN IF YOU MUST GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION VIA A LICENSED LOCAL ATTORNEY. NO EXCEPTIONS. HAVE THEM PICK UP FUNDS FROM THE ATTORNEY, I.E AUTHORIZE ATTORNEY TO GET MONEY AND HAVE THEM GO TO THE ATTORNEY WHO YOU WILL INSTRUCT TO ID THEM POSITIVELY, WITH ID, verifiable references, past bank statements etc... and have them sign agreements" They nearly always disappear when you get local attorneys involved. Or I say, call me when you get into town. I just tell them that I need an audit trail. Bottom line.

My friends always send me their emails to check. They are tarnishing our name and they dont care about anybody, they can be armed and will go against the police if they are prepared and not caught off-guard, I am sorry about all those that have been caught in their web, but just thank God they cant come and physically attack you.
They have turned to overseas scamming as most honest Nigerians are now wise to their bad moves.



These guys make me so angry and for those that get scammed within Nigeria, their lives are in danger when they try and take legal steps against their predators.

Here are the things we ALWAYS DO when we get these dumb emails

1) I get a local attorney that I researched and found myself, not from them, involved in civil transactions, that way I know. All information is alway released to that attorney and no-one else. Go to google and search for attorneys, here's a link I found, but I have never used these nor am I endorsing them, just saying, do your due dilligence. They are relying on you keeping the arrangements secret.

2) If they are trying to rent property from me, and they claim they are in the USA or UK, I always get an NI number or SSN, which can be double checked on websites like Netdetectives
3) All addresses are checked on google earth or similar geo applications.
4) If they ask you to do something slightly illegal, its so that you will be ashamed of reporting them. Its all psychological.
5) I dont excuse it, but this is all about poverty.

SENDING MONEY MUST ALWAYS BE VIA AN ATTORNEY OR A PROPER LOCAL BANK OFFICER. IF THEY WANT IT TO BUY SOMETHING. YOU PURCHASE IT AND SEND IT TO THEM, E.G PLANE TICKETS, that can only be redeemed by yourself etc.... Medical bill should come directly the hospital and you can get the attorney to do that for you.

His eharmony info shows he lives in New Jersey, but the church website he gave me is in Canada. So he goes to church on Sundays in Canada?

I say attorney, because with an attorney who is licensed locally, active and in good standing, you will get your money back less any legal fees and he or she will not want to be losing their license and they can alway tell you if its bogus, right off the bat. Dont part with money you need returned.

What we need is a website that will just allow us to put in scammer, profile names, and email addresses that can be looked up like a database or something. HAS TO BE DONE. A central repository of these scum bags that maybe yahoo, gmail etc.. can actually filter and NEVER deliver their emails.

His profile has now been removed from my login, but I dont know if he is still visible to others.

Yes there needs to be. In the mean time I google any username/email that contacts me from anywhere. I've actually become that paranoid about it. Anyways, these people over at http://www.romancescam.com/forum/index.php have a pretty expansive database w/mail ID's, screennames & pics that grow more everyday.

We used to keep a database of the scammer names, but since the names are all fake, as soon as they know that too many people are "on to" one name they just change it. Same with the email accounts. Trying to keep a current database of all of them would be like trying to tag, track and database every cockroach in New York City.

We encourage people to post names, emails, phone numbers and addresses on this message board because that info will come up in a google search. I have seen people post info one day, and less than three days later that same post if saving someone else because they googled the contact info on their scammer.

These guys now basically kidnap people's loved ones for large ransoms. My Brother inlaws friend's daughter was ransomed for USD $400,000 and he did not get her back till he raised the funds at great risk. So now people need kidnap insurance. Its a nightmare.
