i met 'Dave' on eHarmony in November of 2007. we had been corresponding on the system and when he decided that i was 'the one' he asked me to end my subscription and focus just on him. i agreed (since my $60 seemed poorly spent and the subscription was almost over anyway) i won't bore you with the details here...just a few key points about this man:

the name he uses is Dave Stankova
his eHarmony profile was 'Dave' from 'Bell' California
uses 'davestan86@yahoo.com' for email and IM
claims to be widowed
born in Eindhoven, Netherlands
lived the last three years in the LA area
lived for 10 years before that in London, UK
supposedly has a home in Colchester UK
daughter Amy is 12 years old, has a heart condition, and needed open heart surgery in March of 2008
works as an independent contractor, has done work for Royal Dutch Shell, most recently working in Enugu, Nigeria on the pipelines that ruptured after Christmas 2007
has asked for $5,000-$10,000 then $5,000 and finally $1500
asked to have money wired to a 'Oranefu Chukwuma' at the Enugu branch of Zenith Bank in Nigeria (i have been in contact with the bank about this)
i have never given this man any money - don't do it - he's a fraud!
what he does not know is that i had someone in the federal government tracing emails, which revealed that he is emailing from various locations around the globe
during the time of our 'relationship' he gave me more than 7 different phone numbers to reach him, twice these phones were answered by men, one of whom did not even speak intelligible English

it's too bad he's a liar - he seemed to be everything that i had ever desired in a husband, and i was anticipating a future with this man. i gave him ample opportunity to explain himself - and he just 'vanished' (one of the appeals of the internet)
i'm extremely disappointed, and past the point of being broken-hearted. i'm just mad and annoyed. i want to warn other women everywhere to be wary of men like this. the scams vary, but the stories all have a familiar thread. be extremely cautious and NEVER wire or send funds to anyone without very careful background research.

i wish that i had done more research before getting suckered into the $60 for eHarmony. what a waste of time, money and emotional energy!

as for you 'Dave Stankova' ...you can run but you can't hide! someday you will pay for the wreck you have made of other people's lives. and SHAME on you for the convoluted story about your 'daughter' and her 'heart condition' . you are a sick sick man.

Is it me or do the 3 guys in the pictures all look like different people?

I am sorry you spent so much time getting to know this jerk and that he hurt you emotionally. We appreciate you sharing your story and the information this scammer used as it does help others.

I am definitely glad I checked this site. I am currently in email communication with davestan86@yahoo.com. I meet him in EHarmony and he gave me the name Dave Jensen based on Montreal Canada. It's definitely him based on the pictures I've seen posted below.

This is the 2nd time I've been scammed in this site. Thanks God I was wise enough to do some checking.

below is an IM conversation between 'Dave Stankova' (davestan86@yahoo.com) and myself. this conversation happened on May 5, 2008. although he admits guilt, he is also mocking me in saying (about himself) ' i am a fraud...a cheat...a scam', since this is what i had posted about him on various web sites.
i will take this 'apology' for what it's worth - and hope that others can be spared the emotional train wreck that these people cause!

I am trying to figure out if he is really sorry or if he is setting you up for another scam . . . the person I work for found out and I got fired or something like that

i'm not sure either. i've decided to accept it as an 'apology' and not have any more communication. i can't let this keep me hanging...and i'm tired of overanalyzing

I was trying to figure that out as well. It almost seemed to sincere to actually be sincere (if that makes any sense) kind of like when they start out overly sweet and nice to hook you into the scam.

Oh, I agree with you. Move on and don't sit around wondering "what if" . . . that could drive you crazy.
