While it is a bit embarasing for me to admit I was a member of Eharmony. A member named Rose whos profile said she was from Little America, Wyoming contacted me. So we chatted for a while. She had a sob story of how her mother died in child birth with her and then her dad died when she was 16 and that she moved to Nigeria to be with her grandmother. That alone is a red flag for me. But then he/she said she needed 200 dollars to keep her internet running. Told me to send it via western union to her pastor Shola Philips in Lagos Nigeria. Pretty much confirmed this as a scam. Figured I would warn others about this one. Not to say that I almost didn't fall for this one because I did. Just there where plenty of warning signs and the asking for money and the fact that her so called pastor had the same last name kind of snapped me out of the spell. The email that he/she/it used was rphilips002@yahoo.com.

First off, you have nothing to be embarrassed about by being a member of Eharmony. You are looking for love and doing what you can, it's normal. Don't feel ashamed by looking to the internet to find a soul mate.

Secondly, I am glad you caught the red flags and did not get scammed. Thanks for sharing the information you may have just saved someone else from being scammed.

I agree, there is no reason for you to feel any shame,There is nothing wrong with trying to meet some one to care about or to share your life with.

I am a scambaiter, I read this site often to see what the newest scams are, but this is the first time I have posted, I just wanted to say YOU did nothing wrong, the scammer did.

Whenever I tell someone I am a scambaiter, I like to add to please, if you should decide to ever do this, to educate yourself first, some of these people are very dangerous, and its not something to be done lightly, you need to take every precaution to protect yourself before you even begin.

Great site, This is probably the best forum I have seen to educate and inform victims and would-be victims, kudos!

just found your forum. i too had a run in with this rose. she told me that she was from a made up town in indiana. she never asked me for money, but she did want me to come and see her in africa.
