I received a match with a James Bennett on eHarmony. He requested communication with me and we went through the guided communication. After a few emails he asked me to chat with him via yahoo. This guy is tall and good looking. He says he lives in North Carolina and he is a widow with a 6 year old daughter. He said his late wife died of cancer 4 years ago. His daughter lives in Australia with his mother.

This guy is a fast mover. He told me he loved my smile and that when he saw my profile he stopped looking. I immediately thought something was up with this guy but I thought I'd give him a chance since I was sure eHarmony wouldn't let scammers on their site. Boy was I wrong!

The bull sh*t really started flowing on IM. He told me he wanted to make love to me like his life depended on it. We would take our first family picture together. Yada, yada.

Other red flags were the phone calls. He gave me a North Carolina phone number but when I called it rang and rang. He has called me back from an international number and a blocked number.

I decided to do some detective work and I found a woman with the exact same story on this site on a post titled James Cole. I also traced his IP address on the emails I received from him and they are from Nigeria. I really want to nail this guy. If anyone has been contacted by James Bennett via eHarmony or another dating sight, I would really like to talk to you. I am still chatting with him. He hasn't asked me for money yet but I'm sure it is a matter of time.

You can email me through the link below.

I emailed and called eHarmony on Monday night (2/26) and told them about the post on this site and that I tracked his IP address to Nigeria. I asked them why they couldn't track IP addresses to weed out the scammers as it takes less than 30 seconds to do. The rep said they had over 15,000 new users a day and that it would be be too time consuming. I'm pretty sure a program could be written to check IP addresses and flag the ones from Nigeria.

I asked how long it would take to get James Bennett off of their site and she said she didn't know but she would get this information to the proper people and they would do it as soon as possible. Well...it is 3 days later and James Bennett still has a profile on the site. I am going to call again tonite and see what the hold up is. My guess is they don't want to pull it because than users who are communicating will want to know why he was pulled and they don't want to tell users he is a scammer because than they would lose members.

I have been telling all my friends about this and will continue to hound eHarmony until they get this guy off the site.

I have never used eHarmony so I don't know how it works, but I agree with you that there probably is a way to get a computer program to weed out at least some of the scammers, or a way for other members like yourself to "flag" other users as possible scammers.

Another thing that really helps get more attention to these scams is to contact your local news media and let them know. They are always looking for a good consumer tips or investigative story.
