I had been chatting for a couple of months with Billy Campbell from America working as a Petroleum engineer in Africa. He had my address to send me a letter, after I gave him my address (stupid I know now!) he said he would also be sending me some letters to forward on to America, Dodgy! A friend pointed me in the direction of this site and was shocked to see the email that was sent to me was on here, anyway when I got the post I opened one of the envelopes in there it had 4 money orders. I have been in touch with the police and anybody else who is willing to listen.
I wish these scams were more public!
I was stupid but didn't lose any money thankfully

I am glad to hear that you were not out any money and that your friend pointed you in the direction of our site. I agree, there needs to be more info out there on these scams. This is one of the reasons that we will be speaking about these scams at the The National Center for Victims of Crime conference this June.

I'm sorry you've been scammed. If you're feeling stupid, don't, please. These scammers have taken months, maybe years to perfect their craft of spinning lies. They've taken the trust that you put in them and abused it. I know it will be hard to trust people at first, but it takes time to heal.

I wish they were publicized more too. The more we talk about them, the harder it is for scammers to scam folks.
