Don't think it only happens out of nigeria... my friend(and yes it is a friend, not me) fell in love with a man she met on a dating site. Met up with him, and after only 3 months, she married him. She was getting a buyout from one of the big 3 auto makers, and he knew that. Well here it is, only a month after they have been married...All of the money is gone. All of her credit cards have been maxed out. He blocked her out of her own accounts. He was not who he said he was at all, which was a wealthy owner of 2 businesses. She even met his "business associates", who were really all scammers too!!! Apparently it is a ring of people that all work together and scam several at a time. Since they vouch for each other as friends/co workers/employees, she was not the wiser. Now he stole her car,(her last possesion left) and took off. The law said she can not report it stolen, because she is married to him! Even though, she just found out that there is a warrant out for his arrest by the United States Marshalls!!! He has been in several Federal Pens, and it wanted in 7 States. I don't know what to tell her to do, I just wish she would have listened when I told her I didn't think he was who he said...I guess love is truly blind. She learned the lesson the hard way. Worked all her life and now has nothing! Is there anyone who knows what you can do in a situation like this? Can she get an annullment? I know she is in shock and lost. Oh, and she is also in another state far away from her hometown, and has no way to get back. She is stuck in a trailer park that the rent has been paid till the end of the month, with no car...

I am SO SORRY to hear what happened to your friend. Has she tried to contact the police in the state where her husband has warrents out? They might like to know more info on him.

I am pretty sure that this would be easy since she could prove that he was not who he thought he was.

She has. They even had 6 US marshals at her Dr. appt. (which she had to bum a ride to get to). In case he showed up. He is wanted in other states too. I guess they have been looking for him for almost 3 years. I don't know if they will ever find him, and I am afraid for her.
