who says he is from Ireland and his son is all he has (wife died of cancer 5 years ago - yeah right). He scammed me for all of my savings! I was initially contacted by this man on Match.com I replied back to him that I thought we may have a lot in common and thus we began our 5 week internet romance. He asked me to get off of Match right away and go onto Yahoo Messenger so we could chat live. I did so and within 2 weeks I was totally mesmerized by this man. He sent 4 handsome pictures including one in his army uniform as he told me he was a contracted construction engineer working in Afghanistan with the Army, although, not on active duty. He said he was a captain that would be retiring in Dec. this year. When he finished this job he was going to fly to meet me in my town before going back to Salt Lake City, UT where he had just sold his home before deploying 5 months ago. I have over 300 conversations saved on Yahoo Messenger. He knew just the right things to say and I very quickly fell hard for him. After about 3 weeks he said the Major wanted him to finish one more job (rebuilding a bombed out building) before leaving but that it was very dangerous and he would need to get his own security. He talked me into sending him $$ for this that he promised he would pay back immediately when he got home in a few weeks. A week later he called me from a pay phone (the only phone call I got while he was there)and said he was finished with the job and thanked me for helping him with the security and that they were glad they were finished and now he could come home but the army wasn't sending any flights out until next month. He needed more funds to get his own flight. Like a fool I sent him money to get his own flight. He sent me the itinerary which was legitimate and I followed each of the 4 connecting flights online and drove and hour and a half to pick him up at the airport. He wasn't on the flight and messaged me the next day that he was in an accident on the way to the airport and was now in the hospital. Long story short - he has contacted me on and off for 4 months with crazy stories each time as to what happened. Attacks, hospitalized, etc. 5 weeks went by and he contacted me to say he is finally back in the states (Miami). That was 3 weeks ago and I haven't received any of my money back. I emailed him yesterday to tell him that I am going to report this to scam sites and the attorney general fraud dept. He wrote back and said he didn't care what I did and good luck!
I'm and educated, smart woman that just let my heart lead me, rather than my head . . . it's so upsetting! I have the IP address to his email but now sure if I have any recourse at this time. If anyone has been in this situation and has any suggestions, please send them my way!
Thank you!!
