Name on Dating Site: Ade Williams but goes by Will
Phone: 2348169255521
Location: Ijebu Ode, Nigeria (but originally from Grand Rapids, MI)
Story: In Nigeria selling his late father’s properties. Lives in Grand Rapids but relocating to NM to open a Mexican restaurant.

I was contacted by Mr. Williams via a dating website, OKCupid. We began chatting on Yahoo Messenger. During conversations he professed his love for me and plans for our future which included having a child together. His story was that he was from Grand Rapids, MI but currently in Ijebu Ode, Nigeria selling his late father’s properties and would be relocating to NM to open a Mexican restaurant. He planned to come visit me in Albuquerque once the transactions were completed. Then I got this message from him “We had a phone conference with IFX who had shown a big interest in buying off the properties from you , So good news they will be sending a check for an upfront payment of $35,000 usd . The check can't be cashed here as it will be out in an american bank, the check will be out in my name and will have them mail it out to you .. You will place it as a safe place and will cash it when I arrive down to you IFX Markets Inc from us “. I received the check which I currently have in my possession. Then Mr. Williams stated that he did not have funds to book a flight to NM to which I replied that I couldn’t help him. I have pictures of Mr. Williams but sincerely doubt that these are actually pictures of him. I am also unsure as to the situation with the check in my possession. I believe he has perpetrated identify theft and possible access to the account # for IFX Markets, Inc. I have attached his profile picture from OKCupid and an additional picture he sent to me.

The check is fake. The best thing to do is to shred it. Do not reply to anymore of his emails or phone calls. You may want to block him.
