I know that most of you have had some horrible things happen to you, but if it makes and difference, i think you have helped me avoid being scammed, i recently placed an item for sale on a website and i have been bombarded with emails askin to pay for the item with bidpay, and when i told them no i won't accept that method most of them wanted to send me a postal money order, to which thanks to you guys i declined and they seemed to stop sending me emails after that. and i noticed after readin thru these forums that most of them had Yahoo email address', Like I said I'm sorry for your losses, but you all helped me and i just wanted to say thanks.

Each time that we can save some one from becoming a victim of this scam, it makes me feel like we have done what we set out to do!

For each person like you that is saved from being scammed my heart feels lighter. Yes I was scammed myself and am paying the price but if one person learns from my mistake God Bless us all. I have emailed those in my address books with this site address and asked that they pass it on to all in theirs. Spreading the word is such a necessity. I found this site by accident. Let's make sure that others find it before they are scammed. Pass this website on to all your contacts and ask that they do the same. Mistakes happen, learning from them is what is important.

Very Simple! Banks do not properly train employees on how to spot fakes. I have had branch managers at some major banks admit to me that they do not even really pay much attention to the warnings that come out from the Government and Attorney Generals offices when they are faxed. They simply get chucked in a binder for reference.

You should never get scammed with a USPO money order if you take it to the Post office, they have access to check that on site.

If you take your counterfeit check to the bank that issues it, you will never be scammed, they have access to check that.

Where you run into problems is if you deposit a conterfeit check into a bank that did not issue it. They cannot authenticate a check that is not drawn on them.

It has nothing to do with training, it has to with the ability to authenticate the funds. If anything, tellers should be trained to ask a few questions about the origin of the check and be able to explain to people how cashier's checks can be returned against your account.. There is no way anybody can look at a check and tell if it is counterfeit, it has to go to the presenting bank, or it has to be called in to the presenting bank.

I deal with counterfeit checks everyday, I can look at the circumstances surrounding a check and speculate as to whether it is real or not, but until I call or the check is returned I am not 100% sure.

I hope this clears up some common misunderstandings.

I was told this when i called the 1-800# to the post office...i was told i could take it to any post office and they could tell me right then and there if it was authentic....remember...given i had already recieved two counterfeit cashier checks i was questioning this item big time.....it was my bank that put the hold on those two because they were well informed fortunately and they require it of all customers because frankly they told me they were being over whelmed by them.....they were the ones in my case that informed me...but it was the federal postal money order that screwed me due to lack of training...it was never a issue for the bank...it was the post office that messed up..the bank had no issues or processing of these postal money orders...it was the post office authenticating and processing that failed and cost me...well i also had a postal inspector with some loose screws and proving it more and more...he just may be in some trouble over his desperate attempt to make a case and cause...either way...the system fails whether its a bank institution or federal level

I am not understanding you, the Post Office said they were good and they turned out to be counterfeit? Or did you deposit them at your bank without getting the Postal MO's verified?

First i am soo glad to hear people are being helped and i finally got my case resolved....all charges were dropped due to lack of evidence and alot shady activities on behalf of the postal inspector...who by the way took off on vacation the week of my trial..surprise surprise!...in return this caused the prosecutor to verify things personally cause the case had soo many loop holes in it and found misrepresented so called facts and statements that did not exist or was falsified. My case wasn't even touched until two days before my trial date by the prosecutor who had just came on board to replace another prosecutor and boy was she not happy with what had been a supposed case she was to represent against me based on the postal inspectors findings...i go to bed every night smiling cause i know he the postal inspector was probably fired at minimum!! This whole thing was so stressful i quit painting...let my website go....but i am making a comeback because i will not let the scammers or some stupid old fat postal inspector who obviously has issues to have tried to pull off what he did hold me down no more....i often ask myself why? the only thing i can come up with was a fine line across his forehead representing flatliner..no brain activity!.

One up for us victims guys!!! just wish the scammer had could been brought to justice also!

Big Hugs!
DeAnna
