Hello... I was wondering, should I report a scam to the ICC website if the money I sent was to someone in London? I don't know if the information is genuine, but I have a name and address on my Western Union Money Transfer reciept of the person I sent money to. Is the information scammers give to you for Western Union Money Transfers genuine or made up? And what are the chances of the appropriate law agency even doing something and getting me my money back?

Thanks.

You can try to report it to the Metropolitan Police. It is unlikely that the address used was actually directly related to the person who picked up the money, but scammers have been known sometimes to use a name/address that can be used to track them down.

Yeah, I don't want to report anything unless they're going to actually try and track the scammer/scammers down and get my money back. The only reason why I believe it might be genuine information is because the amount I sent would require the reciever to show Western Union ID.

Is there a phonebook or some sort of directory about London I could obtain? I tried searching on eBay and tried using sites like Google to find a number or some sort of information... any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If you have an address and/or postcode, try http://www.multimap.co.uk

It finds the place - it says 44 Gerrard Street, W1V 8xx and the address given to me by the scammer was 44 Gerrard Street, W1V 8HB. I wish I could somehow obtain a phone number of some sort.

What was the name used by this scammer? http://www.192.com lists the following company at that address:

GOURMEN LTD.
42-44
GERRARD STREET
LONDON
W1D 5QG

Note that the postcode appears to be different to the one you have, and that indicated by multimap.co.uk

CHECK: There a number of businesses listed by http://www.192.com as either 42-44 Gerrard street, or 44 Gerrard street.

Anyone know where I can get a hold of a London phone book for businesses and residences?

Thanks.
