No what actually happened is that there was a total lack of support from the police side, so the entire admin team withdrew because they donsidered it too dangerous to continue without some input from police officers responsible for seeing that the site reflected official policy.

The site was left with all the forums locked, but still searchable so victims googling it could benefit from the information therein.

Unfortuantely the police decided to remove it from public view within 36 hours. The admin team therefore has re-opened it as a historic archive here http://419legal.ath.cx/ .

Please note that it is just an historic archive and new arrangements have been made for reporting fake sites and for victims seeking advice. Details are given on the new site and there is an open forum for any comments you may have.

http://www.419legal.org is running, but it's a new clean forum. It's an information store for 419 scams which has lots of different types of scam emails posted and they'll try to help people with any questions.

It's still run by Rian Visser who left SAPS end of last year but he's still really involved with fighting 419.

We need more sites like this, to make more people know about the nigerian scams. Good luck to the new forum!
