Post subject:  Mobile phone scam

Hi everyone,
I just joined this forum because I have been scammed out of all the money I had.

I'm not looking for advice because I know this is all my own fault and I feel absolutely ashamed of myself, I just wanted to share my thoughts with other people who have been through the same thing as me (a bit like admitting you're an alcoholic I suppose!), and hopefully stopping someone else getting caught like I did, also by posting what details I have on these people maybe they will show up in the search engines if anyone is trying to check them out.

I wanted to buy some wholesale mobile phones on-line and spent the last 3 months searching for "reliable" sources to buy from, finally I thought I had found one and made contact, they were very professional and seemingly up front with contact details eg. phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses and websites, only to find out (too late) that all this was false and stolen information.

I placed an order for the minimum 10 units and paid out over £2100.00 GBP using Western Union (I still can't believe I was that stupid!) and, you guessed it the phones never arrived! they even gave me a tracking number for the courier so that I could check they had arrived in the UK, obviously I have since found out that the courier firm "transit-courier.com" is a fake and apparently the domain name has been stolen or hi-jacked by these scammers to be used as a seemingly legitimate and independent business.

When the phones had supposedly arrived in the UK they then said I had to pay another £400.00 in customs duty which I was expecting, but by this time I was already having grave doubts about the validity of the whole thing and had started digging a lot deeper than I had previously (and yes I know I should have done this in the first place but everything seemed so genuine at the time), and sickeningly I found about 3 other people in another forum who had been scammed by some of the same people I was dealing with.

Needless to say I didn't pay the extra money and I confronted the main person I had been dealing, with the information I had found, amazingly he denied everything I put to him and insisted that once I paid the duty I would receive the phones, but never once answered the accusations I put to him about the fake couriers, phone numbers etc.

I have spoken to my local police force and they don't seem to be very interested and say that it would be almost impossible to track these people down as they are obviously an international gang.

From what I know they are based in the UK, USA and guess what? Yeah that's right Nigeria, however even this may not all be true!

The names I have are:

Nick Noeless (Texas USA allegedly) Nicnoe Fashion and cellulars
Phil Anderson (Cheshire UK allegedly)
Steve Anderson (unsure but I think he's in the UK) email m.gazzette@gmail.com
James MgBachi (definitely in Nigeria)

And don't forget the courier service http://www.transit-courier.com

As I said earlier, I'm not looking for advice because I know this is my own stupid fault, but I needed to get this off my chest, and again hopefully stop someone else from falling into the same trap.

I am absolutely devastated by what I've let happen here and I feel sick to my stomach, not to mention having lost all faith in humanity at present. I don't consider myself a mug, I'm in my late forties and have been round the block enough times (or so I thought) to be able to spot a scam, but obviously I was wrong about that! I hope in the future I will be able to look back on this as yet another of lifes learning curves, at the moment however I am just filled with anger but even more so, utter despair and grief that people are capable of doing this to each other without any thought for the consequences of their actions upon other peoples lives.

I apologise for ranting on about this but I just needed a shoulder to cry on, and I guess that's why I joined your forum.

Kindest regards

Pete.

Pete,
Sorry to hear your story. Try not to beat yourself up about this . . . the scammers are good at what they do and that is why so many of us have become victims.

Thank you very much for posting the information on the scammers. We have seen many people google a name, email address or even phone number that is posted on this site and that is the thing that makes them see that they are involved in a scam, so your post COULD save someone else.
