Your father has no friends in Ghana, just a con artist aquaintence.

Not much you can do accept contact Adult Protective Services in your area, explain that your father is giving away his money, they will evaluate the mental capacity of your father. They may be able to step in.

You might want to go to scamwarners.com. They may be able to help with warning your father as to the scam. They might be able to tell him something that no matter how many times you try he will not hear you. Good luck with all of this.

So sorry to hear about your father. Do you have the email address of this person he is sending money to. If so you may try googling it. If it shows up on any scam related or baiting sites you can show that to your father to prove this guy is working more than one person for money. It's very unlikely that he is just conning your father.

I am so sorry to hear that your Dad has been caught in the 419 scam-- and I can relate because 3 years ago I lost a lot of money to the scammers both in Nigeria and Ghana-- I almost lost my home as well as almost went to jail for it -- I was warned about it from some one-- but not until after I had "given" them all my savings-- I wish he would listen to you because I know from experience they will take all and more of what he has and still come back for more .
The latest one has been the one from Ghana that says they are going to send all my money back if first I register with them and send them money-- its just another scam -- so please be careful of this too-- it comes from a place called UNITED NATIONS RECONCILLIATION COMMITTEE its on your site under a different name of the administrator-- the one that contacted me was a Dr YAW --
I just wanted to let you know-- they are still out there and still very active as well as still crooked . Thanks Mariam

There is also another one where they will contact you saying that they are a lawyer or government agency that is fighting scam and that they are trying to recover your money . . . you just need to give them your bank account and they will put the money back into it. The truth is, once they have your account number they will drain the account.

This scam works because people are so stressed about the financial loss that they are willing to do this if it means getting all or some of the money back.
