Hi...

I listed a used car on Craig's List in the US (LA, in particular). Got an email from Dolphin -- typical, predictable... they have a buyer, there's a cashier's check for more than purchase amount, they want me to remit the difference to them, blah, blah, blah...

Since most of these bastards are Nigerian con assholes, I have sent the following message to many of them who have contacted me:


Sir:

I received your email recently and found myself deeply
troubled.... I did not know why, but an aura of
darkness and evil permeated your inquiry.

I am responding to you because I fear for your life
and your soul...

As you know, your God and mine
expects us and requires us to conduct our lives in
ways that honor him.

Our lives are a daily struggle. Often, the Devil
himself tempts us, promising rich rewards if we would
agree to do cruel and unkind things to others, such as
stealing from them.

Too often, we give in the Devil's temptations, don't
we?

But, remember this, my friend: God expects of us
honesty, he expects of us compassion and he demands
that each of us treat others as though they were holy
and blessed by God himself.

And, know this: if we fail to act as God instructs
us, if we betray his commands and his commandments, if
we treat other people unfairly, unkindly and with
cruel and selfish intentions, his punishment will be
swift and severe and will be visited on us not only in
this life, but also in every life we continue to lead.

I have consulted with my personal babalawo, and asked
for the help and insight of Ifa.

I have asked to be told if you are a friend or a foe,
if you a God-fearing person of integrity, of honesty,
of compassion -- or if you have succusmbed to the
Devils temptations.

My babalawo has thrown the sacred ikin and carefully
studied the marks left in the sawdust. Having done
so, he called out these verses to me:

that you have drifted far from your heart, from your
Gods and from the righteous path of the Holy Warrior.

temptations to do wrong to others.

My bablawo has advised me to not do business with you,
because he fears for your soul.

person, a frail person, a person without much money or

Is that true? Are you attempting to cheat me out of
my own hard-earned money, money on which I am
depending for my retirement, for my medication, for my
health care, for medical assistance to my sick and
dying wife????

If you are allowed to do wrong to an innocent person
such as myself, you will be severely punished.

You know this, don't you? In your own heart, you know
you are doing the Devil's work. Indeed, you know you
ARE the Devil, don't you?

So, out of concern for you, we will not do business,
for I fear that such business will lead to your
eternal damnation and I cannot allow myself to be a
part of this eternal damnation.

Further, I will notify my local police constable and
alert them to your actions and intentions.

I have also contacted the Federal Bureau of
Investigations and forwarded to them copies of your
email to me.

Lastly, I have alerted Craig's List and asked that
they look into your actions and intentions.

I hope and pray it is not too late to save your
blessed soul, my friend.

I shall pray for your salvation and hope that you find
a way to lead your life that reflects God's Grace,
rather than denies and insults it.

May your heart be opened to God's love once again.

Please consider if any amount of money is worth
eternal damnation, if it is worth cheating and
stealing from others, if it is worth the scorn and the
disgust of God.

Please ask if your ancestors would look kindly on
lies, cheating and robbery.

Look into your heart, my troubled brother, and you
will see the truth.

I beg you to repent before your soul is lost forever.


FYI: a babalawo is a Nigerian witch doctor. An 'ikin' is a prophetic medium used by babalawos to reveal the past, present and future.

4-1-9 is the number of the Nigerian statute outlawing cons and scams of this sort in Nigeria.

I NEVER hear back from these scamming bastards. I guess they figure I'm a complete whack job or they're petrified that my babalawo has yanked their covers and they've converted to christianity and joined a monastary.
