When I asked what the vendor name was he told me Tracy Stroud and Cassandra Jamison.

I am pretty sure you are being scammed.
Check the header of that Yahoo mail to see where it is coming from.
From the way it is written it looks African to me.
Do not cash that check. Especially not when it is more than you need and you are asked to send the difference somewhere else. Then you know for sure you are being scammed.

100% sure this is a scam

Do not cash any checks from him. I would stop emailing with him. Block all conversations. If you try and tell him you think it is a scam he will just try to explain your questions away, or get upset that you are questioning him.

Reply to the first post. Yes, hiringdesk_2011@yahoo.com is a scam. This guy is located in Lagos, Nigeria. I did applied for a job on Craigslist and I knew that he or she was a scam when I got the email to do an interview with Scott McDonald. At first, you will receive a email from Jame Cole from Officedesk57@gmail.com. These emails is from the same person. Most emails would come back with signatures on the bottom of their names, such as contact, title, name of company, company's URL, and privacy right.

Every emails have IP address of the senders and receivers. If you are unsure about the person, you can do WHOIS search online to see if this company or person is real. However, I decided to play their games and pretend to be their new employee. They did sent me a check for $2,300 from CitiBank which is a Cashier's Check. The check is completely fake. The day I have received this check, there was nothing written on the envelope or done as a professional business way.

Another thing is that you can track down and see if the person is real or not by using Facebook. Just type in the email address, name, and their location. "Scott McDonald" have told me he is from Austin, TX. There is no Scott McDonald in Austin, TX.

Scott also gave me the tracking information for the check and I was hoping to figure out who or where it is coming from. The returner address is Stephanie Crosby with a phone number of (717) 939-6361 and address from a business called Glakz (35 S. 2nd S. Harmony, PA 16037). The address is fake, but the street address is real which turned out to be a resident area. The phone number is disconnected. The check was sent from Poughkeesie, NY which is nearly 7 hours apart.

Best way is to Google the check routing or account number. I've tried to call Citibank and see if this check is real. The bank will not provide anything to you. The name on the check was David Anderson. They have been using this check account number for a long time 38762924. It's listed as counterfeit cashier's checks on many web sites. There was no security features on the check.

The name they use as far as I got before they figured out that I was trying to track them down.
Stephanie Crosby, David Anderson, and Scott McDonald.
The IP address they used is from 41.155.19.0 - 41.155.19.255 or better known as source host name "dial-pool19.lg.starcomms.net".
The company name that was used Taylor's Software Computers located in London.

Hopefully this will provide enough information to help prevent another person to be scam. Any questions or more information about this scam artist. I'll be happy to answer.

For me, it was James Wayne (officedesk76@yahoo.com) and Jude King (judeking33@yahoo.com)

Quote:
Dear (Me),

Congratulations! Our recruitment team has received your resume referencing the ad for Data Entry/Administrative Clerk listed on www.craigslist.com . We are very pleased with your listed qualifications and would like to conduct an online interview to discuss the duties within the job,
along with the pay scale. Your information has been forwarded on to the Head of Operations Manager,Mr. James Wayne. He will be conducting the interview, via Yahoo Instant Messenger.

If you are still available and interested, please set up a screen name with Yahoo IM, if you don’t already have one, and add Mr. James Wayne. to your buddy list. His screen name is officejob76@yahoo.com . Please be online at 10:00 a.m., EST on Thursday 6/16/11 for your interview. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email.

Jude king
Sincerely,

When I got my yahoo account, I had an interview where he asked odd questions like, "How was your night?" and his grammar and spelling was atrocious. Then I was sent this employment agreement:
Quote:
We are pleased to confirm you’re being employed by our firm in the capacity of Data Entry/Account Payable Specialist. You will report directly to me James Wayne , commencing with your start of employment Friday17th of June 2011 at 9am your time. Your salary shall be $20 per hour. You will be in training for the first 2 weeks at $10 per hour. You will also be covered by the standard group benefit plans and fringe benefits, which will be explained to you. If you agree, please sign the enclosed copy and return for our files. We look forward to your joining the company.

At this point I was kinda wary and pretty convinced that it was scammy; my boyfriend was (is) peeved that I'm still bothering to talk to this guy, but I'm unemployed and still nurse hope like a dying animal, so I played along just to see where he was going to take the scam.

The company he claimed to represent is Links and Wireless Communication, and when I accused him of being a scammer, he sent me the link to an actual company (cwc.com), though the name is of course different and there is no reason I can see for an employee in Texas whose only job (as you can see in the task below) will be to accumulate random facts from various financial websites.

After getting online 45 minutes late, this was my first day of "training":

What I want to know is if this guy does send a check and I try to cash it, how will it hurt me if I don't buy anything he tells me to buy with it?

It will bounce your account and make you pay up the nasty fees.

Or the bank could say that you knew it was counterfeit and were trying to defraud the bank and have you arrested . . . I have seen it happen!

That would be nasty. I was offline for a few days, but when I got back on this fellow was still asking about my puppy and wondering if I wanted to work. He asked me to look up the prices for a bunch of random office equipment (I made up prices and sent him back a total) and this is the new task for me:

Sign in on Craigslist under an account that I have to make (username: veronicafish@rocketmail.com) using that email account, which he gave me the password for. He told me to log into the rocketmail account and verify the email address so that I could create a CL account. Now he wants me to post ads on Craigslist for the same job that I fell for, General Administrative/Data entry clerk. No astonishing insights, I'm just posting this in case anyone else is dealing with the same fellow.

I received the same email and unfortunately fell for it to the tune of $2008.00. I was so excited to have this job and was doing "tasks" all week, Ms. Phillips (the person I was IMing, kept telling me what good work I was doing. I really am embarrassed to have let this happen to me. I just retired last October and really needed a job, I was hoping to find something online, all the jobs appear to be scams. Below is the email I received.

This is the email I received.

I have valuble information that I believe is vital to this scam. There is a Stephanie Crosby you mention. with a phone number thae number you received I too was given bte haty her personally. She is the ex wife of my current boyfriend. she left him in 06 and he had no clue she was involved in a company known as adsense. Theres no contact number and they come up under a "black hat whi familyte hat" subjuect. These ppl steal your money and also are guilty in my case of gaslighting me, hacking my phones, computer, etc and making death treats and in a gang stalk fashion are making my life hell. When she left her ex she somehow got his father bank to sign fake checks. I dont know why but they did this for her. The fout and familys account was drained. She blackmailed them, well tried. she lied about him. Now she is stalking me via my personal laptop, phione, etc. and no matter what i do she on top of it. Adsense has since merged w google and youtube. Whats does this mean?? I need help. My bf dosent believe me, but he hasnt seen what ive found related to the scam and was offered similar scams myself, recieved plane tix, checks that were bad etc but i calle dthe bank and discovered the fraud. I am hoping someone will reach out and help me. Im sick and tired of being tormented.
someone please contact me.

NoMoreAbuse, I have removed your email address. It is better not to post personel information anywhere on the web. Bots pick it up really fast and then it is all over the web. I believe you do not want more spam or scammers sending you emails.
