Hello, I am trying to help my 92 year old mother who is convinced she is winning 3 billion dollars.
We don't live in the same town so its been difficult for me to get a copy of the letters she
receives. They have called her and told her she is a winner and then they write her and tell her
they need $10. for mailing fees (several times). But the thing that worries me the most is that
they had her fill out "forms". They are collecting information I am sure. I cannot discourage her
from doing this, she gets angry, she has put all her faith in them. They told her they are coming
with a camera crew and the check.....soon.
What can i do? I have POA. Should I stop the checks?(duh) I think they will continue to call and
contact her as she is very vulnerable and thinks they are friends. sign
Thank you so much for this site. Beetles

Can you show her the information here http://www.scamvictimsunited.com/lottery.htm

Is there someone who does live near her that she trusts that you could get to talk to her?

It is an enormous relieve to have your advice. I have printed the story and the Scam information
and am going to send it to Mom. I have ask a person in the church to try to get a copy of
one of the letters and maybe talk to her gently. I will also report what happens and if we find
anything out that is useful. You are definitely providing a wonderful service! Thank you so much.

You may also want to contact the Sheriff's office in her area and see if they have some sort of program to protect the exploitation of the elderly or if they know of an organization that will check on her and check out what's going on. Alot of communities now have these kind of programs in place.

unfortunately the sheriff's dept is of no help. Mom had checks forged and the taxi company
stole thousands of dollars from her, yet nothing was ever done by law enforcement. They say
there are much bigger problems with drugs and crime in her county.

Sounds like that sheriff needs to be replaced!

If you wouldn't mind... could you PM me her location and I'll see who I can contact over there?
