The person who forward this message to me does not have a facebook account. Be very careful when receiving emails such as this. The links may contain malware, keyloggers, or trojans

If you go to the Facebook site I believe there is a help button at the bottom of the page, and this will lead you to different choices. There has to be an report abuse section.

I will check it out and let you know what happens.

Well it took some digging, but I was able to find an email address to report this to. I sent an email to let them know about this. Here is the email address.

privacy@facebook.com

Here is the link to the page where I found the email address

Yes, I have a question . . . are you going to post a warning about it or put out a press release . . . something to get the word out

Scammers are smart enough to cause trouble, but not smart enough to cover their tracks. Small errors in your email clued me into this scam and popped out like a where is Waldo book!!

This peice was the biggest clue. Especially the part about keeping it secret:

*Reference Number: 19192039
*Batch Number: FB092/Kl35/100SE.
*Pin Code: FB0009

*Contact Person: Hanson Terence.
*Phone: 00 (353) 87 6 123 953
*Contact Email: h.terrence@btinternet.com
You are further advised to keep this email confidential for unauthorized access.

 The company is Facebook. No spaces, and no Inc. A company would never spell their own name incorrectly. Officially Facebook is Facebook Inc. but it does business (DBA) as Facebook not Facebook Inc. or Face book.

 The contact email at the bottom of the letter wasn't from a Facebook domain, like: Admin@Facebook.com. Take a look at where the "real" Facebook email came from and you will see what I mean. Additionally, you can tell that the real Facebook email was spell and grammar checked. No one from the corporate office at Facebook wants to look like a moron.

 The phone number is international: Facebook is an American company with American contact information that can easily be found by performing a business search. As you can see below; Facebook does have European operations in Dublin, IRL but they would have no reason to contact you by email when they could easily send you a message or email right in Facebook.

1601 S California Ave
Palo Alto, CA, 94304
USA

Europe HQ
Dublin, IRL

New York
551 Fifth Avenue
6th Floor
New York, NY, 10017
USA

 The email and signature is all jacked up and so grammatically incorrect if that person were interviewing I wouldn't hire. 8)

Good looking out :!: I hope these losers rot. My advice is to make your Facebook profile private to everyone other than those in your friends list. I would make your pictures private, and not provide too many personal details in the profile section if you are seriously concerned. Facebook is an amazing networking site. It is too bad that people are taking advantage of this marvel of the modern age for their own nefarious gains.

SURF SAFE :!:

Excellent points. Thanks for posting this. Romance scammers will STEAL people's pictures to use on dating sites as their own. I am sure no one wants to find their picture being used by a scammer and posted on an anti-scamming site as being a scammer.

Interesting point you have made. Pictures and photos are a whole other topic all together. Creeps can and will use your pictures for romance scams. Especially if you are attractive. As if that wasn't bad enough; It gets worse I'm sorry to say. A photo is really worth a thousand words, a few thousand dollars, or worse. Lets take it a step further. Warning: The following information is intended to be informational and thought provoking only.

Don't get caught up in paranoia, or take every picture off of every website you have them on. Just pay attention, and understand that photo's mixed with personal information and the digital age may not be safe in all cases. Your name, address and a couple of photos are all a twisted freak needs to do serious damage to you and your loved ones. Really be aware when you post your personal contact information and a photo on the internet.

Always use available privacy features when possible.

Take a moment and play a little game.

1. Randomly chose several photos of you, friends, and family. Or just random photos of people, places, and things.
2. Look past the memory and nostalgia for details. what do you see? Look hard!
3.Think about what you may be able to infer and deduce just by looking at these pictures.
4. Add a name, email address, physical address, phone number and other personal information to these pictures.

Kind of scary huh. In case your imagination and deduction skills are a little rusty look at some examples I have provided below.

 That is a nice motorcycle you are selling on craigslist.com I'll bet that motorcycle it is stilling right where the photo was taken!
 Hrm, that garage door doesn't have a lock!
 Those are lovely children you have I think I'll take one!
 These kids go to school at (insert school here)!
 That picture will fit perfect on my new ID!
 So that is where you work!
 Hey Hey! That alarm isn't connected!
 Looks like the gate on that fence is broken!
 My you have a nice house I think I'll rob it!
 Look the address of (insert here) is right on the curb or mail box!
 That photo of your car has your license plate, lets do a public information search!
 Looks like you are a L.A Lakers fan. I've got the perfect con for that! lets see if they will buy some fake tickets for really cheap!

Again; Warning: The above information is intended to be informational and thought provoking only. Don't get caught up in paranoia, or take every picture off of every website you have them on. Just pay attention, and understand that photo's mixed with personal information and the digital age may not be safe in all cases.

Keep your photos safe. They are precious memories to be shared with trusted love ones. In the digital age we all want to post pictures for everyone to see and it can be done safely if you use just use a little common sense and caution when posting them online.
