Hi,

I received 2 emails from dylan_rhys@sbcglobal.net

Telling me I had won £1,500.000 punds sterling. I telephoned hime to ask was it true. He assured me that it was and the cheque was sitting on his desk waiting to be released.

He asked me for for:
Full Name
Address
Occupation
Tele/Fax no.
Date of Birth
Nationality
Winning no.s
A scanproof of identification

I rang him on 0704 570 9498
After I spoke to him I was still sceptical so I emailed him to ask in what form did he want
the scanned proof of id he replied by email and said a passport or international driving licence,
and that he hoped to hear from me soon. i am really angry at this ecause the man must have no morals. Is there anything I can do to stop him?

His full email address is claimsdepartment@visa-2008.org
dylan_rhys@sbcglobal.net

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Regards

no there is nothing you can do to stop him. These people are often times overseas in areas where the government is corrupt and not willing to do anything. Your best course of action is to stop communicating with this person and move on. You are right this person has no morals or heart but to them this is a good paying job in a country where money is scarce (don't think I am condoning their behavior).

Here is a bit of information on how to spot these scams

1) Ask yourself did I enter any lottery? If the answer is no then how could you possibly win it?
2) Look at the spelling and grammer, if it is bad then it is a scam.

Lottery scam letters sent out tens of thousands every day. Only two things the bad guys want: your money, your identity. Victims are often informed they had won the lottery, but must pay transfer fees, taxes or provide proof of their identity and their bank account or credit card / or details to receive a "bonus." Change the name of these organisations all the time (they just made a new name, one is exposed as a hoax), although many people use a notice similar to the wording.

There actually is something you can do to stop these scammers-spread the word around to other folks. By teaching others about scams such as these, it cuts off the scammers source of income.
