Hello!
Can anybody here help me by giving me an advice how to protect myself:
I received some suspicious e-mails saying that I am a winner of 3 million GBP, etc. by "Ashford International Promotion", Ashford Michael Jr.
That I should collect my prize and contact their Affiliate office in Lagos, Nigeria on 31 July.
Well, I found out they are fraud,
and of course I am not going to contact them,
but another thing is bothering me:
I've replied them and gave out my personal data as they asked:(name, time of birth, area of specialisation, marital status, telephone, address, personal web address)-That's it.
Is this too bad? How much I am in danger? Can they use my data (identity theft)? I didn't reveal any bank account numbers, or anything like that.
I forwarded all these suspicious emails to the police.
I'm a little bit afraid now that they may misuse my personal information.
Is there any way I can prevent that?
Thanks,
Melinda

If you didn't give out any bank account numbers, your social security number, or drivers's license number or anything that personal then you should be ok. I wouldn't respond anymore to them nor should you ever give out any personal information to anyone whatsoever unless you know exactly with whom you're giving it to. When in doubt, don't give it out.
