If you own a brand new high dollar vehicle you had better cover up your vin number from prying eyes. It seems as though our illustrious thieves have taken to teaming up with manufacturers of Copycat high dollar vehicles such as Escalades, Mercedes and other SUV's etc. Once the copycat is produced and ready for shipment to a dealer lot, the finnishing touch goes on, the VIN plate in the window, the hitch??????? you got it, the vin number assigned that vehicle is that of a legitimate one where the thief copied it from a parked vehicle either in a shopping center parking lot or parking garage etc. You buy the copycat thinking it is the real macoy, go to register it and walla police come and impound the car and you get questioned as if you were a criminal yourself. My suggestion would be to cover your VIN number with a piece of cardboard, with the writing on it, due to prying eyes this vehicle identification number has been blocked from view, if you are a police officer I will gladly remove this and show you the VIN number. |
