I was not advertising a business and I meant no harm by what I WAS offering.

This is not a board to advertise a business. I personally take offense to someone offering IDTheft protection that people have to pay for, it is my opinion that the companies that take our information should be made to cover the customers against this.

I will not get into this again other than to say I have had a contract expert read through the pre paid legal terms and conditions of this service and to say it mildly what a bunch of hooey.

BEWARE of this service or any that attempt to scare the death out of you to gain your business.

IF you are offered any protection against ID Theft read the terms and conditions carefully. Not slamming any particular companies but I think we all know which one I am talking about. The company claims to repair your credit and offers ID Theft Protection plans at a reasonable price. Problem with this is the terms and conditions are so full of holes that should you have a claim they could very well tell you , sorry your not covered and there is little you can do about it.

ALWAYS read your contract before signing anything!

Also, I know that if I were looking for legal advice I would want to hire a lawyer . . . someone who went to years of school and knows for sure what they are talking about. Yes, we as victims offer legal advice to each other on this forum from personal experience, but to hire someone or buy protection from someone who got into that line of work simply by signing up at another person's website. They don't have to know anything about the actual legal system.

Exactly, it is a situation where people are making money off of the pain of others, they think not what they are doing and rarely do they read contracts. Pre Paid Legal's contract has many loop holes in it if people would have someone who knows how to read a contract and knows the law look at it. Just as many others do as well.

Why should a consumer pay to be protected against data theft and other crimes that happen at the hands of companies who have lack security from within?
