Here is one that a friend of mine got via email . . .

From: TNT EXPRESS DELIVERY LTD [mailto:expressdelivery.service@yahoo.de]
Subject: TNT DELIVERY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT- PARCEL READY FOR DELIVERY

    TNT Express Delivery ltd
    The Old Truman Brewery,
    11 Hanbury Street, London,
    E1 6QR. United Kingdom.

    Hello Valued Customer,

We are a privately owned company, established in the West Midlands since
1979. Over 25 years we have gained a wealth of experience in the express
haulage industry. Our reputation has been built on our commitment to
customer service and quality, and by working closely with customers to
    forge long standing relationships.

We are also glad to acknowledge the receipt of your email. This is to inform
you that we are in possession of a certified cheque and a brand new Toyota
Prius Car which is to be couriered/shipped to you. It is the usual
practice of our organisation to conduct a proper verification of all
parcels that we are to deliver to ensure that they are valid. Be rest
assured that your check has been confirmed valid and true and delivery will
be made once you have met the necessary requirements.

We are a well established company offering courier and transport services
24 hour a day for priority delivery of letters, parcels and consignments to
any destination by road, air or sea. We have a substantial team of couriers
available for motorcycle despatch plus van driver couriers in all size
vehicles from small vans up to 7.5 tonne and international couriers for
despatch by road, sea or air.

We have been provided with two orders by the Toyota Car Award Team to
deliver to you via our courier and shipping unit.Below is our courier
delivery charge for the delivery of your certified check and your car
shipping charges (Delivery destination must be made known to us in your
next correspondence), you are required to adhere to every instruction
below.Note that we do not operate Cash On Delivery Method(C.O.D) due to
company ethics. Moreover the below charges cannot be deducted from the prize
and hence must be provided by you before your prize is delivered to
you. This was done by the management of the Lottery company for security
reasons to reserve the sole right for you to cash whenever desired. You are
to choose from the below delivery and it's associated charges.

    Administrative Charges For Check Delivery:
    Aministrative Charges.............................£140.00
    Insurance..............................£245.00
    Courier Charges...................£101.00
    Total......................£486.00GBP

    Administrative Charges For Car Shipping:
    Administrative Charge...........£320.00
    Tax and Insurance...............£520.00
    Shipping Fee....................£210.00
    Total...........................£1050.00GBP

However, the Toyota Car Award Team has informed this office that you are
entitled to borne one(1) of the above charges and they will take care of
whichever option you decide to leave,in otherwords you are to make a choice
from the above mode of delivery and inform this office which ever mode
suits you so we can comence delivery.

Note-Any option chosen by you is safe and appropriate, the Toyota Car Award
Team will take care of one of the delivery, moreso your prize is protected
by a hardcover insurance policy and fully bonded, which makes it impossible
to deduct any amount from the money before it has been remitted to you.

All orders not delivered within Five(5) working days from this
communication will be returned. Please ensure that you confirm your
delivery address. We are glad to be of service to you.

    TNT Delivery Service

DELIVERY IS 100% SURE WITH TNT

I told my friend that the things that REALLY gave it away that it was a scam is

You "won" this but I am guessing that you did not enter any sort of a contest/lottery/raffle with this company.

The first paragraph is all about how great, established and wonderful their company is . . . they are trying to gain your trust.

expressdelivery.service@yahoo.de . . . they are a 25+ year old company and they are using a yahoo email address?!?!

" . . . you are required to adhere to every instruction below" which means that when they send you a check for more than the amount that you were supposed to get you will be required to wire some back to them.

"Moreover the below charges cannot be deducted from the prize and hence must be provided by you before your prize is delivered to you." . . . a legit company would deduct any "charges" from your "winnings", not ask you to send them money so you can collect your winnings.

If you reply their emails they will provide you address and phone number to contact them. Call the police and provide them the contact information to catch the frauds!

Unfortunately, none of the info they give you can be used to trace the scammers. It's all lies. The best way to stop them is to tell everybody about them. :)

Exactly!

Which is why I asked my friend if I could post the email here! I am hoping that others who get the same email will google the company or address and then find this post.

Whether its Craigs List or any other online site, the TNT Scam is one of the biggest going - with plasma TV's laptops and tickets being the bait used most often. The scammer claims to be in the UK, and the object is to link you to a bogus TNT site where you will Western Union your money away to a frinedly TNT agent. Regardless of what the scam is, the LANGUAGE IN BOLD appears in all the SCAM emails, one of which is sampled here:

I still have the TV. It’s just like new, no scratches, no signs of intensive use and has 6 months old and 6 months of transferable warranty left. I am the only owner. I bought it new. I have attached some pics with the TV to this e-mail so you can see it’s condition.
My name is Elizabeth Cranham (scamming a hole) and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
I hope you are still interested and we can make the deal happen right away.
Obviously we need a safe way to complete this deal that will allow us to make sure we receive what we are after.
I have found a way for us to complete the deal fast (2 days) and easy. The solution is a worldwide delivery company called TNT.
TNT is similar to Fedex, DHL or UPS and they will provide assistance in handling the payment and delivery of the TV.
With this procedure you will be able to check the TV before I receive the payment.
Click bellow to go to their website:

http://wqkp.com/tnt.express.wolverhampt ... nsactions/
The wqkp is simply an ISP, and the site is a fraud.

Any e mail you receive with this language is the TNT scam, regrettably TNT is very lazy when it comes to scam fighting, to the point where I think there is a serious question of whether they have waived their trademark rights by not defending them as the law in this area requires.

Some of the TNT scams, as well as a copy cat scam involving the French company Chronopost, and a 'Beck Carl' who claims to be in Topsfield, Mass can be found here:

http://crackersunited.com/blog/index.ph ... ha-ruffin/

As this thread is showing up as a leading result for Google searches on TNT delivery, I felt it important to post this - I've baited these scammers 12 times off of Craigs List in the past week alone - they are moving to hotmail and gmail which are slower than yahoo in shutting down scam emails- could use some help in shutiing down the fake escrow sites.

Craig List Users Heads Up- A $ 510 Panasonic Viera Plasma is posted in all major cities: the ad text varies, but the item an dprice are the same :
she is now "Jessica Berry" sending e mail through a hotmail heading, but parsing via spamcop.net, shows the real sender to be everyone.net . we are considering suing TNT for failure to protect their trademarks, as they are totally useless in helping stop this stuff: anyway here is Jessica's email :
Sorry for my late reply but I'm currently in England, Wolverhampton. I was promoted to Sales Administrator and I have to take a 6 months trainning program here in UK, before I'll be back home, in States.
The TV is still available, in perfect condition, and I will sell it only in US because here the warranty and the PanasonicCare are US registered.
I can't use the TV here in UK because it works on 110 V. I didn't know about this problem when I moved here and another reason why I am selling the TV is because I have just received a new TV as a birthday gift here in UK, so I do not think I will be using my old TV any more. I don't have use for 2 TVs.
I have attached some pics with the TV to this e-mail so you can see the condition of the TV. I bought the TV 5 months ago and it still has 19 months of Panasonic transferable warranty remaining.
I hope you are still interested and we can make the deal happen right away.

Note- Plasma TV's , Laptops, and Tickets are their primary bait items :

FROM THE REAL TNT WEBSITE : TNT.COM – IT IS NOT A qkst or other company- they use Chinese hosts to post their fake sites :

Internet Fraud
TNT is aware that attempts have been made to mislead internet shoppers by the fraudulent use of the TNT name and brand, through false emails and websites that seem to originate from TNT.
The fraudulent communication typically concerns an unknown third-party request for advance wire transfer of money to pay for goods ordered on the internet, before the goods will be allegedly shipped by TNT.
We advise all customers to beware of such requests for advance on-line payments, and that the existence of a consignment number (or tracking number) is not necessarily proof that a consignment is in the custody or control of TNT.
If you are in any doubt as to the authenticity of any TNT communication or whether TNT is in fact delivering a shipment intended for you, please contact us through the details listed on your country TNT website.
Thank you

Subject: Re: 4 TOOL tickets for New York, MAY 19 at The City Center - $600

Hello

The tickets are still available.
I need to sell them asap because I am not in the US and I will not be going to the concert.
I am now in Manchester, United Kingdom.
I will pay for an overnight delivery so if we both move fast you can receive the tickets in less than 1 day.
The tickets were bought by my company as a bonus on a deal for a customer from the US. Unfortunatelly the deal did not go through and now we are stuck with the tickets. I would hate to see the tickets go to waste. We can have the deal asap.
Obviously we need a way to complete this deal that will allow us to make sure we receive what we are after.
I have found a way for us to complete the deal safely and fast, and in this way you will receive the tickets in less than 1 day, if you move fast as well.
The solution is provided by a international company called TNT which is similar to Fedex, DHL or UPS, which will handle the payment and delivery of the tickets.
With this procedure I will only receive the payment for the tickets after you will receive them and see that they are genuine.
Please click on the link below to the TNT website to see how we can complete the deal safely and fast directly from the website of the company where the procedure is explained.

Like I said, I will pay for an overnight delivery so you will receive them in time.

Hello

Now I realized what you have done... You wasted my time...
Thanks for nothing... Can't a guy make a living here without everyone being a critic????

Craigslist Scam"
Got this in my email today, after inquireing about a Pioneer In-Dash DVD Multimedia AV Navigation Receiver (AVICN3) - $699
Kevin Bailey <cioroius@googlemail.com>
Hi
My name is Kevin Bailey and I live in London Uk.The item is new with 12 months international warranty( with all standard accessories ) . It is a unwated gift, usa model and I can't use it here!
Here is how I want to go about delivery and payment for the product which will be through TNT and will also give you the chance to inspect the product before I receive the payment for it.
I will explain to you step by step how this will work.
A. First you have to send me your shipping information (your name and address).
1. After I receive your shipping info, I'll go to a TNT Location and leave the product onto your name and with your address as the intended receiver.
2. TNT will check it to see that the unit was placed with no defections and to see that is legal .
B. You will receive a notification from as a confirmation that the product is in their custody and also, that the product has been tested.
1.TNT will send you a invoice, and if everything is in order, they will deliver the product to your door step.
2. After you will receive the product and you will be completely satisfied with it, you will instruct TNT to release the payment information to me, so I can collect my money.
C. If by any reason, you will not be satisfied with the product, you will return the product to TNT with no expenses.
I will pay for shipping and you for the amount transfered.
Let me know if we can do this.
Thanks!

Hello,
I still have the TV. It’s just like new, no scratches, no signs of intensive use and has 6 months old and 6 months of transferable warranty left. I am the only owner. I bought it new. I have attached some pics with the TV to this e-mail so you can see it’s condition.

Another plus for film enthusiasts, the TV features 3:2 pulldown, which reassembles the frame sequence of your original film-based content from DVDs to more accurately reproduce the original 24-frame-per-second material. Digital edge-correction circuitry, video noise reduction, and on/off switchable velocity scan modulation all contribute to excellent-quality imagery

Well, this TV was made for US use, and I tried to sell it here, however nobody wants it, because it works on 110 V. I bought it from US and I cannot use it here.
I have used TNT’s services in the past and they are professional. I never had any kind of problems with them.
You must make the payment to the TNT Agent assigned to your package. After they will verify the payment, they will deliver the tv to your address. If you will like it, you will keep it. If you won’t, you will return it to TNT, and you will be refunded. So, you see, things are safe and simple through TNT. What do you say about that?

On the TNT scam - they will send you an e mail with a picture and name of ‘the TNT agent handling your transaction’ - to whom you Western Union your money away to - note that they make extensive use of scam or fraud websites- NONE OF WHICH ARE tnt.com - TNT is a legit company, but their anti fraud efforts are a joke.

Hi there,
Sorry for my late reply but I’m currently in England, Wolverhampton. I was promoted to Sales Administrator and I have to take a 6 months trainning program here in UK, before I’ll be back home ,in States.
The TV is still available, in perfect condition, and I will sell it only in US because here the warranty and the PanasonicCare are US registered.
I can’t use the TV here in UK because it works on 110 V. I didn’t know about this problem when I moved here.
I have attached some pics with the TV to this e-mail so you can see the condition of the TV. I bought the TV 3 months ago and it still has 21 months of Panasonic transferable warranty remaining.
I hope you are still interested and we can make the deal happen right away.

So I do some digging – first sent the email to http://www.spamcop.net that determined that the Yahoo e mail headers were a fraud, and the real sender was everyone.net – set your e mail to display full headers, be sure to leave a space between the length of message (a number) , and the body of the e mail; and spam cop will tell you who sent it, and will send a warning to the real ISP, shutting the scammer e mail down.

Second the links to the fake or spoof TNT websites can be parsed, they use Chinese and Indonesian servers to set up these fake TNT sites, thus they are closer to the Romanian E Bay scammers than the typical Craigs List Nigerian, such as the Nigerian Fed Ex TV scammers in sophistication.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT ALL OF THESE SCAMS RELY ON WESTERN UNION or WIRE TRANSFER PAYMENT – as stated by perhaps the best scam fighting site, carbuyingtips.com- the fraud tip of the century is NEVER USE WESTERN UNION. MONEYGRAM OR OTHER WIRE TRANSFER FOR ANY ONLINE TRANSACTION- EVER !!!!

The success of the TNT Scam has spawned more imitators- best known is the 'Beck Carl' Chronopost scam, however a new scam - MONEYBOOKERS is now turning up on Craigs List - ANY CRAIGS LIST AD THAT DOES NOT LIST A SPECIFIC LOCATION IN THE METRO AREA OR A CONTACT PHONE NUMBER HAS A GREATER THAN 80% CHANCE OF BEING A SCAM- and any wire service is assuredly a SCAM.

Hi,
The laptop is in great cosmetic and working condition. The macbook was slightly used, it has 2 years and 8 months remaining Apple Care warranty. The price I'm selling it for is $1700, which is including all the shipping charges.
I live in Philadelphia but currently I am with work in UK, London for the next approximately 7 months. Anyway, there shouldn't be any problem, because I am using MoneyBookers services so I can sell the laptop without difficulty.
I left the laptop at their warehose before leaving to the UK. They will take care of the delivery. There's a 14 days return policy included so you will have the chance to inspect it before final decision.
So if you want to purchase it, let me know and I will explain you how MoneyBookers works and how we can move forward.
I am waiting your email.
Thanks

E Mail from "jessica berry' claims she was tranferred to England and so cannot use the TV (different voltage and broadcast system) ..includes pictures of a THX-50-6 Panasonic plasma ...note yet another spoof TNT site- 18 active postings of the Viera on Craigs List. While they obviously use some kind of 'blast posting" software, they do use different ad text in the posts, albeit recylced stuff such as 'no trades' 'will not drop the price"- they are more clever than the average CL scammer.

This e mail, using forged HOTMAIL headers, and linked to a SPOOF TNT website, (http://www.web-tnt.com/country/en_corpo ... press.html) is being used to run a serial scam known as the TNT delivery scam. There are numeous postings for this TV active on Craigs List, and as the attached articles show, these scammers tend to run this TV, along with a JVC model, and a particular powerbook, regularly on CL.

32 Craigs List Postings Up by the TNT Scammers on 6/4 and 6/5

Some advice:

A FEW SURE FIRE TIP OFFS ON SCAMS:

(1) Any Craigs List Ad that does not list a specific location in your area , or a local contact phone is a likely scam. We did a study showing over 75% of electronics ads that failed to list a specific location, for example Battery Park in Manhattan,Bethesda in the DC area were either Nigerian, Russian, or Romaniain scams.

(2) If you are selling something if any of these terms appear, its a certain scam:

(a) “pls” - abbreviation for please used by Nigerians, not in US
(b) “cheque” - this is the Victorian English (used in Nigeria)version of our term check
(c) “the item” - these morons don’t read - I’ve had them try to scam scam warnings, they are running so many scams, they have no idea what they are doing

(d) ‘enquiry’ - again Victorian English for inquiry

(e) ’shipper’ - any shipping deal, especially on CL is a certain scam - the Nation Consumers League has just decalred the fake certfied check, money order scam to be an ‘EPIDEMIC’ , and the FBI reports the average take for the scammers is over $ 3000 per deal. The only certfied check you can trust is one you see being drawn at the bank - that is the only way I’d take one, especially on a car.

(3) It’s a good idea to set your e mail options to display the full headers, and
check incoming e mails on spamcop.net. For example, the headers from the Nigerian Fed Ex TV scammers always say yahoo, (Currently jane.stered@yahoo.com, claiming to be jane anderson) but if you report the email to spamcop, the true source is multilinks.com, the primary Nigerian internet provider. Reporting to spamcop will also get the scammers e mail shut down.

(4) If someone directs you to use Escrow, its a likely spoof site or scam - very common Romanian modus operandi - you should copy the site address and check it here: http://www.register.com
you will often find that the site has just been opened, and is registered to a US citizen who knows nothing about it… you can report the scam site to the ISP-
the COMMON THREAD- THEY WILL DEMAND WESTERN UNION OR OTHER WIRE PAYMENT- NEVER WIRE ANYTHING FOR AN ONLINE TRANSACTION.

Thanks guys for the good info.... I thought this deal was too good to be true (this bike should be at least $7500) and was able to confirm the scam because of this forum BEFORE I fell for it.

Hi again,
the bike is in San Francisco (at MoneyBookers official location).
If you want to purchase it let me explain you how MoneyBookers works and how we can proceed:
In order to start the official transaction, I need your full name and shipping address.
As soon as I receive your info, I will forward it to MoneyBookers, they will start the transaction and notify you with all the instructions (payment, shipping, my account status etc) One of their agents will be assigned to handle the payment. You have to make the payment using the exact details they will provide you with and when the payment is complete, you have to send them the payment information, they will verify it and proceed with the delivery. You will have 14 days return policy, so you will have the chance to test and inspect the bike and decide either you keep it or not. If you decide to keep it, they have the power of attorney so they will transfer the title into your name and release me the funds, if not, they will be responsible for the return shipping and you will have a complete refund within 3 days.
I am waiting your email.
Thanks.

OK, I'm very interested...
Please tell me more about MoneyBookers and how that works.
You say you left the bike in their warehouse... they have a warehouse in Bakersfield?
I'm looking at MoneyBookers website... looks like they're an escrow service... so I gather that the procedure would be...

* I deposit the money with MoneyBookers
* I get the bike and have a chance to test and inspect... be sure everything checks out
* If everything is cool... after 14 days MoneyBookers pays you
* If something is not cool, I return the bike and get back my money

Am I missing anything? This seems too good to be true... very cool service...

I'm in Malibu, and I'd like to go take a look at the bike as soon as possible.

Also, do you have paperwork for all service done?

If everything is on the 'up-n-up' as they say, you can consider this bike sold...
I'd like to see it first... so if the bike is in a location in southern cal, I'll go check it out right away...

Thanks
Russell

Hi,
the bike is in great condition, it has been properly maintained, never been dropped or abused in any way. It has clear title and the price I'm selling it for is $2950, which is including all the shipping charges.
I live in Bakersfield but currently I am with work in UK, London for the next approximately 7 months. Anyway, there shouldn't be any problem, because I am using MoneyBookers services so I can sell the bike without difficulty.
I left the bike at their warehouse before leaving to the UK. They will take care of the delivery. There's a 14 days return policy so you will have the chance to test, inspect and ride it before final decision.
So if you want to purchase it, let me know and I will explain you how MoneyBookers works and how we can move forward.
I am waiting your email.
Thanks

Hi,

If you want I could specify a three day inspection period. Let's do it for $640 US.
If all is in order please reply with your full name and address and I will start the delivery procedure.
Waiting for your email.
Thanks
Douglas

Sounds good. How long would you let me test it out? One or two days? Also, is 600 USD ok? I want to see if we can negotiate a little on the price between 600-699. I’ll go up if needed, it’s not really a problem anymore.

Hi,

I posted in US because it's an US version. It has all the software registered in US, the warranty is for US and it's transferable. The charger works in US.
I received a brand new one from work and anyway I didn't used it allot. I don't need it any more so I have to sell it.
It seems that I have sent you a wrong link. Here is the right link:

Please read their procedure and get back to me.

Best Wishes

Why was this in the Washington DC Craigslist forum?

Also, is there any physical/hardware/software deficiencies with this laptop? Please reply ASAP, as I am very interested in purchasing this. Thanks

-Tristan

P.S. Why are you deciding to sell?

Hello
I still have the laptop. As I said, the laptop is an US version, it is 3 months old and it comes with 9 months of warranty.
I have attached some pics with the laptop to this e-mail. I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
Since I can't meet you and make the exchange, I would like to use a service that will help us with that:
http://www.tnt.com/tnt.express.wolverha ... rvice.html
TNT is a worldwide delivery company (like Fedex, DHL or UPS). You can see from their procedure that you will be able to check the laptop before I receive the payment. If you are in a hurry, I will use 2 days delivery (on my expense).
Let me know what you think.
Best Regards,
Douglas

I will update as it comes along.. Notice the city is the same for all of these scams for the most part but check out my latest reply to him.. :

Good news! My uncle Howard Lee is in West Bromwich! He said he can help me out and just do the transaction from you instead and I’ll pay him back when he gets back home. His E-mail is ########@aol.com. He wants to do meeting in person. This would help you out with shipping fees and he’s coming back in two weeks. Thanks!

-Tristan
