This is an e-mail b/w my hubby and "Joseph Williams". We are trying to sell our car.

JW: Hello, I saw your AD and wil like to know if its still for sale?Get
back to me with current pixs and condition.
Regards

ME: yes, it is still for sale. the pics were taken today. so they are the most current. as far as condition, the partially rebuilt motor is ready to go in i just don't have an engine lift or the time. i can send some more pics of the engine and car if you'd like.

JW: Hello... I really appreciate your response to my mail.I want you to consider it sold, pls do withdraw the advert from craigslist to avoid disturbance.I want you to know that i will be paying via bank certified check .I will need you to provide me with the following.information to facilitate the mailing of the check .
1.....Full name to write on the check
2.....Full Physical address to post the check
3.....Home & Cell Phone to contact you
**I will like you to know that you will not be responsible for shipping i will have my mover come over as soon as you have cashed the check** Thanks
(I AM SOMEWHAT SUSPICIOUS AT THIS POINT)

ME: Just so I understand clearly, Will you be having a certified check sent to my address or will it be delivered? Once the check has cleared I will have no problem signing over the vehicle and title to your mover. I look forward to being able to do business.

*Here is the info you requested*
(P.S. currently me cell is not working do to leaving the charger at work, email responces will have to work for now)

JW: Hello Damon,
How are you and how was your day? Hope everything if ok? .Well i
will like to tell you that you will receive the payment asap.I just
got married last week, and will be going for my honeymoon in Dubai
somewhere in the Asia this week. I might not be around to coordinate
the pick up,and i will not want any delay from my side regarding the
pick up,soon as you receive the payment, and get payment cashed. Then, I
will instruct my shipper to get in contact with you for the pick up
schedule time and date. so i will be sending the money to cover the
shipment of the item, . You will receive the payment of $4,700 As soon
as you have it, i will want you to deduct your money plus $100 for
your effort and send the balance to the shipper via money gram at any
walmart store around you, the shipper will be pick up some other items
for me in your city. I want to buy this item for our new apartment
which we will be packing into as soon as we return from Dubai. I hope
i can count on you to do this for me.
I will await your response asap, so that we can set the ball rolling.
Till i read from you, stay blessed.
Regards.

(THIS IS WHEN I KNOW ITS A SCAM)

ME: You know what buddy? Change of plans. I WILL NOT accept a money order, check (of any kind), or wire transfer. Why don't you have your guy come here WITH THE MONEY to pick up the car. Once I get the CASH money, you can have the car. Deal? DEAL. You can do all the necessary transactions with him, then, come pick up the car. I just want $2000, nothing more, nothing less. If you can not do this. Explain to me why it CAN NOT be done my way. It's MY car, and I want things done my way. Thanks.

(I HAVEN'T GOTTEN A REPLY BACK YET)

BEWARE!

You poor dude,

I think anyone who has ever tried to sell anything on a website has run into one person who does this. Ebay is the worst and they still say I owe them money.

A few years ago there was the "Nigerian Scam." I do not know if any of these people were actually from Nigeria or not because I have known many people from Nigeria and they were very honest, God fearing, and I mean GOD FEARING people, and this is why I found this odd.

I was contacted several times by mostly men who wanted me to close the auction and they were going to send me a western union and once I got the confirmation, then the money was there. I was very suspect of this and went to western union and inquired about it and they said that there was no such confirmation number. I had recorded on messenger our conversation and copied the emails with the confirmation email with this scanned copy and gave it to them. They were pissed because their company was used to defraud someone.

So, I do not know if anyone from Nigeria was actually doing this. I believe it was Americans posing as Nigerians, which is really a shame because Nigerians are really nice people. My neighbor, a long time ago, was from Nigeria and was on the Olympic team and he was a sweetheart. He won fifth place in the running.

Just some useless information for you.

Just like anywhere else all it takes is just a few bad apples to give the rest a bad name.
